Are there drivers available to download from a VN-480-PC to a MAC? Or any other way to transfer file format to work on a MAC? Thanks! Tony

Hi

the voice recorder should work instantly when plugged into the mac, it should show up as a removable stroage device, or a removable drive, like any other external hard drive or usb stick would on a mac.

you don't need a driver to transfer or listen to the recordings from the recorder on a mac.

Hello, Our designer, who works on a Mac, put all his files on a G-drive Mini portable drive and sent it to me. I have a PC and am trying to get into the drive. It doesn't pop up on my computer when I plug...

Mac files normally have a Mac-binary, or double-fork structure that the PC cannot handle directly. Therefore, it is convenient to convert any Mac file prior to transferring it to a PC or a PC-based network (or to another Mac via a PC or an on-line service) so that its structure will resemble the binary structure of the conventional PC file. The Mac software to accomplish this is called MacBinary (formerly BinHex), and it is available as freeware from CompuServe (GO MACFF, filename BINHEX.HEX). It is also one of the utilities of Stuffit by Aladdin Systems, v. 3.07 or higher, and comes bundled with some communication programs. MacBinary adds a header consisting of a few (usually 128) bytes to the file. This header contains the file type and creator information and a filename that can be different from the original Mac filename. It acts as a "wrapper," hiding the double-fork Mac structure for transfer to and storage in a PC system.
When the file is transferred via modem, the MacBinary file transfer protocol (ZModem MacBinary, YModem MacBinary, etc.) automatically creates the binary PC header for the transfer. However, when the transfer is done via diskette or a typical network (or when a Binary, rather than a MacBinary, modem transfer protocol is used), the conversion from MacBinary to Binary format must be done prior to the transfer in a separate step.
If a Mac file is converted to a PC format, e.g. WordPerfect DOS or Microsoft Word Windows, on the Mac and subsequently transferred to a PC, no MacBinary conversion is needed, since the converted file no longer has the double-fork structure of the Mac. Also text-only files (which have no resource fork) need no MacBinary conversion prior to their transfer to the PC, unless they contain non-ASCII characters (accented and other non-English characters, special symbols, etc.) so really in a nutshell, it will have to be converted before it is transferred to the G-mini disc to be able to be read in PC format, you can try searching the net for programs that will convert MAC to PC but i think it will be very difficult to achieve ...hope this helps please vote and comment thanks

I have formated vn 6200pc through computr how to retain its working

You are NOT supposed to re-format using your PC...you re-format just using the device itself...refer to your operating instruction to try to re-format again or download instructions from www.olympusamerica.com

I recorded meeting minutes to my digital OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder and want to transfer the recording on it to my Dell Inspirion/1100 laptop. Could I transfer the audio from the headphone jack to...

Hello,

yes, it is possible. You will connect the earphone jack from your voice recorder to Mic of your laptop. Then you will be needing a wave software on your laptop, download the wave software from the internet, open the wave file, then press play on your voice recorder and the minutes will be recorded into your laptop as a wave files.

But the easiest method of tranferring the minutes is by using the usb cable of your OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder. If you don't have it you can purchase it, then connect it from your OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder to the usb of your computer and it will be read like a flash drive.

After that, go to my computer and you will see a drive representing the OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder, open the drive and you will see your minutes, then simply create a folder on your computer, and copy, paste the minutes into the created folder. And the would be all.

God luck.

If you will see "Other devices" listed in Device manager with "digital voice recorder" underneath it.
