Sounds like a bad hard disk. You might try to format the disk. If that does not help, you will have to purchase a new one.

My PS3 starts up but then says "The hard disk file

Your HARD DRIVE (aka: Hard Disk), located on the left side of the unit, has crashed. You will need to replace the HD.

When you replace your hard drive, you will need to have the latest firmware on a

usb stick. Download the firmware from the playstation official website onto a usb

stick. Once prompted by your system you will need to insert the usb stick into the

PS3. Good luck..

You will need 2.5" Sata Hard Drive.

If you are getting the corrupted drive message this means that you have corrupted data on the hard drive or there is something wrong with the hard drive. If you have tried the built in repair options and they do not work then you will need to format the hard drive with an externally with a computer. The link below will help you do this.

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

There is an alternate way to restore your HDD. Turn off your system and when u see the red light, hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 4 beeps (1 alone, 1 alone, 2 together). It usually works on second try. it should show a screen and say hook up controller with a usb cord. Then it should show i think 6 options. Choose the restore option. it should work.

Hope it works and wish you all the best!
P.S.- I just got the 80010514 error on my ps3 and my ps3 games dont work anymore :(
