We've been hearing a ticking sound coming from the basket area of our Fisher & Paykel washing machine for several days. The sound does not change whether the machine is on or off. It is harder to hear during the louder parts of the cycle, but I think it's just the washer drowning out the ticking sound.

It does sound as if there maybe something in the filter, although you say it occurs even when switched off. If you switch off at the power point does it still occur?

SOURCE: washing machine will not spin or drain

look at my post "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something stuck in very lowest part fo drainage area. you have to remove the motor on bottom of washer to see into this area and remove blockage.

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.

first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

Error code 47

I have the fault description paper tucked under my instrument panel on my washer. Error 47 says Basket Disengage Fault, and under that it says: The floating basket has not engaged even though the pressure sensor indicates that the tub is empty. Check that the clutch or the pressure tube is not blocked or crushed.
That's all I've got, sorry I'm no repair tech.

I have a 5.5kg Top Load Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine MW512. The clothes seem to come out with alot of dust particles on them. Is there somewhere in the washing machine where it is collecting this...

Hi - are these particles kinda ash grey black in colour? if they are then the bellows have sprung a leak.. unfortunartely the only way is to replace the inner stainless drum.

Inspect the top of the bowl for any signs of structural damage along the grey plastic housing as it contains very fine sand used to counter balance the inner bowl.. on rare ocassions these leaks and give you the particle effect similar to what you've described..

Every one I've worked on a few lately and both of them have had thermistor leaks in to the control board area causing the control board to fail, Sounds like you may have the same problem.. Remove the top control area and check for water. Good luck
