It means that the "reader" cannot communicate with the "printer". That is to say, your device theoretically could be purely a printer as a stand alone device. But, it knows it has a scanner and document feeder attached and therefore expects to easily communicate with these external devices. Please check the communication cables between the 'reader" and the the "print engine". If your copier has been moved or shoved recently, the communication cables may have been disconnected or slightly disengeaged.Power off the device using the "REAL" power switch. If You are in doubt on where the true power switch is, pull the plug. Locate the cable that the doument feeder uses to connect to the main copier. Remove and re seat this plug. This "should" fix the problem unless you have deeper, uglier, expensive problems.I truly wish you well, and can assure you that the communication problem is an accurate description of the code. But you of course understand that WE are hoping for the most simple problem as opposed to the distinct possibility that you have circuit boards that that don't want to talk to each other anymore or a wiring harness issue. btw i appreciate your help and the prayers :).Ok so i did everything as you posted here. however the code is still being displayed. i cleared the code also just to see if that would work and did NOT help any other suggestions? i am affraid it might be the reader controller PCB. BUT everything you said makes sence since the machine only stopped working after the move :(.

E 051 problem is registration horizontal position gear is broken. this gear seem to paper pick up deck back side. remove paper pick up deck and see one small moter and see small gear is there u change it u r problem is solved

Please check the main thermistor TH1 has poor contact or open circuit.,the thermal switch is opened.In this case the fixing heater has opened and the SSR is faulty.

I'm now having a further problem with this machine, I figured out the reader problem and could you believe it was only that the reader wasn't touching the main part of the machine enough stupid magnets! Now it seems like this printer was never set up for the scanning capabilities. I did some searching and it seems like part of the installation cd (that i no longer have) had the necessary drivers for the machine to be capable of scanning documents onto the server in my office. I was curious if you knew (1) What drivers were necessary to make this machine capable of doing what i explained in the beginning? I did some research and it seems like there are about 20 drivers for this machine, and I dont want to install any that I wont need and (2) Would you possibly know anywhere that I would be able to download the necessary drivers?. Figured you may know the answer.. hope to get a response soon
