Hi,

The error code F5 indicates the electronic control board has failed. The failure could be the sensor probe, loose or bad sensor probe wire harness connection .
This error code can sometimes be caused by a power surge or glitch through the electric lines. You can try shutting off the circuit breaker to the electric range for 2 minutes. If the code returns after powering the oven back up, then you will probably need to replace the control board.

Before replacing the control board, the sensor probe needs to be tested.
Remove the oven temperature sensor probe from inside the oven cavity. It will be protruding into the oven cavity at the upper left hand or upper right hand corner of the rear wall. It will be secured to the rear wall with two (2) screws. Remove the two screws and pull the oven sensor probe outwards and disconnect it from the quickly disconnect plug. The oven sensor probe will need to be tested with an ohm meter by measuring the resistance of the oven sensor. Measure the resistance by placing the meter leads across the two wires of the oven sensor. The resistance should measure 1100 ohms at room temperature (72 degrees).
If the ohm reading is close to the 1100 ohms it should be reconnected and measure where it connects at the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. If it measures the same, I recommend replacing the Electronic Oven Control board. If it does not measure at 1100 ohms, replace the oven sensor probe.

Hope this helps.

Hi
You can start the self cleaning cycle again and then stop it after 15 minutes, then let the oven cool for sometime and check if the door opens again, if the not then you have to take a screw driver and open the latch. After this the latch mechanism should be replaced as it is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The door latch assembly has gone bad and should be replaced....you can insert a screw driver to open it

  • Anonymous Mar 03, 2011

Press and hold the light switch; the "locking mechanism" resets itself and then the door will open. Engaging the light switch for several seconds resets the entire locking mechanism and overrides the "Stop/Clear" button.

  • Anonymous Mar 03, 2011

OK then insert the screw driver where the latch is and try opening it

Hi,

Press the "Off/Clear' button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the oven. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any program you have started. If the problem still persist,
Perform a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a moment. Plug the oven back into the wall power supply to reset any anomalies with the oven memory.

    Hi,

The "F5" error on Electric ovens means that the safety circuit
failed. This could occur because of a power failure or an error with the
lock circuit. Unplug your oven for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If
the error remains, replace the lock circuit. On this is done, your problem is fix.

I have the Samsung Electric Induction Range FTQ307NWGX. I had it on self cleaning overnight and experienced a power blip during the night. In the morning found oven totally out with door still locked. ...

Since I have not worked on one nor do I own one take this as a suggestion. According to the manual, you can't use the cooktop when in the self clean mode.

If I were you, I would make sure that the cooktop was shut off and then try to get the self clean to start again. If it will complete the self clean cycle then it will unlock.

BTW you can download the manual from Samsung, that has the troubleshooting guide for free.

Oven door locked

ah, you lucky guy. You can try a hard reset by unplugging the range for a good 1/2 hour, then plug back in. Unfortunutely this probably won't work, as these clock/timers are notorious for only lasting a few years. You have to blow $150+ and replace the clock/timer. Note: A hair dryer will help you get the face off the old one to put onto the new one.

When I try to start the self-cleaning oven, ''door'' appears in the display, and then the display goes to F5 E1. The door doesn't even try to lock. I have a Whirlpool Self-cleaning electric range Model #...

there are switches under the cooktop that go bad frequently. i do not recommend ever using the self clean mode in an oven. the oven gets so hot that things have a tendency to melt because they dont build stuff like they used to. there is inadequate insulation in modern ovens. use easy off and follow the label directions. it'll be cheaper in the long run, trust me.
