Hi,
The easy solution is to try pressing the Energy Save Dry button & hold it in for 3-5 seconds. This should turn the child lock on & off.

If this doesn't work, then it's likely that one of the pads on the control panel is stuck, and it (the control panel) will have to be replaced.

If you don't have the manual, you can download one here (PDF format). Good luck!

KitchenAid Superba Monterey 21, Model KDSM-21A not draining at end of Cycles?

Try a Power Reset. Before you go to bed, cut the power to it using the breaker, the plug, or isolation switch. Try next dinner time. Press and Hold the On switch before you turn it back on to fully dissipate power.

Do the dishwasher still operate or not?

Why is my Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDS01DJSS0 pump making loud humming noise? Pump motor suddenly began making loud humming noise when running. (not so bad when draining).

Some dishwashers have a soft food disposal inside. If something is hung up, it will grind or hum for a long time. If this is the problem, it will eventually go away.

Hi

First try to reset the dishwasher control by pressing the HEATED DRY button and hold it for 15 seconds, if its still not resolved then it means that the control board has gone bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

[email protected] i cannot get the child lock to turn off and i cannot get the dishwasher to star

please provide the full model number of our kitchenaid dishwasher.
have you tried turning the power to dishwasher off and back on again from the mains switch.

Childlock can be turned off by pressing the childlock button for 4-5 secs.
If childlock light is continuously flashing then there is a fault in dishwasher.

Had electrical prob. blew some breakers for kitchen circuit. After fix all other affected appliances/outlets etc. are fine but KitchenAid dw now does not work. No sign of life at all, no led's light on...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

With electronic controlled appliances today and in this case your dishwasher. The printed circuit board (PCB) transformers are very susceptible to power surges. The windings are just large enough for the normal operational voltages. Anything above or below that range causes the windings to fail rapidly. When they fail you do not get the 5V or 3.3 V for the LEDs ' and IC chips or the 12V for the controlling the relays for normal operation.

I don't see a model number listed for your dishwasher so I can not provide the replacement part information at this time.

Before I went into the parts changing mode I would first go back and reset every breaker in the house by:

1. Pushing each breaker with conviction to the OFF position. This completely resets the breaker.

2. As you turn each of the breaker ON push hard on the face of the breaker near the center of the main panel to ensure it remains connected / engaged to the main power buss bar.
Then go back and check the dishwasher for signs of life. If it works great! If not.... I will be watching for model number information if you need help with the dishwasher control parts information.

Just a side note... you may want to check your home owners insurance coverage (if your a home owner) to see if it covers repair of equipment other than the one that caused the original problem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

Door will not open on my KitchenAid Superba dishwasher

Hi Karissa (I LOVE your name!)

I took the opportunity of your post to upload a technical service manual for you. The "child lock" feature is only for the control functions (the buttons) and has nothing to do with the door actually locking. Here is the link to the tech manual. I hope you find it useful.

Kitchenaid dishwasher door does not stay up in the open position.

On each side of the dishwasher, near the ground, is a nylon cord and pulley apparatus that keeps the door from flopping down when opened. It probably needs some adjustment of the tension on the cord.

Kitchenaid Superba Dishwasher

gagaweaver, couple of things you want to check here. Check the upper spray arm for any clogged holes or cracks along the edges. Position it in the 12:00 position and run the dishwasher for a little, open the door and verify that it has rotated. Make sure the water entering the dishwasher is min. 120 degrees, use a thermometer. Makes sure that there is no large pans or dishes blocking the upper spray arm from spraying onto the inner door. If all that checks out. You will have to remove the lower spray arm, filter cover and chopper cover to make sure the chopper screen is not coated or plugged up. If it is, it will prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arm. Catriver..post back.
