Our Maytag M7DH65B2A was working fine one day and the next and forevermore has not been collecting water. When on, the fan runs and I hear a relay click on and the lights dim about every 15 seconds. I've opened up the unit and checked connections and all of the sensors and nothing "looks bad" but after reassembling, it continues the same behavior, of running, seemingly applying the compressor, and yet leaving a bone-dry water bucket. Any advice as to how to narrow the fault to one of the 3 sensors - humidity, heat, and defrost? I have the same problem. I took out the air filter and looked at the coil, it was all iced up. Upon further investigation I discovered that there is a sensor on the fron coil that is held in place, against the coil in a metal clip. The clip had rusted away and the sensor was all afloat. After defrosting the coil I was able to slide the sensor between the foam insulation and the coil. The insulation holds the sensor tight to the coil. We'll see what happens.
Dehumidifiers have only a few components, and operate on the same principle as a refrigerator, freezer, or air-conditioner.
Components
Residential dehumidifiers have a cooling system made up of these primary components:
Principle
When the unit runs, the circulating fan and compressor also run. The fan continually draws room air over the evaporator coils, which are cold, and then over the condenser coils, which are warm. Because the evaporator coils are cold, the moisture in the room collects on them--just as the outside of a glass of icy liquid "sweats" on a warm, humid day. When the moisture on the coils increases, it drips off of the coils into the collection container.
The air then flows over the warm condenser coils and out into the room. This process removes water from the air and, because of the heat from the fan motor and compressor motor, the exiting air is somewhat warmer, as well as dryer.
Hi,
There
are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.
Here
is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going
wrong with their dehumidifier

I have a simplicity compact dehumidifier purchased at Canadian Tire. in 2006. It worked at the first of the season but the last week it runs but no water is collected. I checked to make sure the float was right and there is not extention being used. Good air circulation and I did clean the filter and brushed any dust from the coils. There is not place handy for me to take it for repairs although it is still under warrenty.
Did your fix work??
PROBLEM I'TS BEEN RUNNING BUT NOT COLLECTING ANY WATER AT ALL, I CLEAN THE COIL INSPECT EVERY PARTS , AND CLEAN THE FILTER IT IS THE SAME RESULT
Same problem. Runs constantly but has recently stopped collecting any water.
I have a Simplicity 20 dehumidifier, runs constantly but does not collect any water.
the front coils of the dehumidifier are icing up. I've noticed that the sensor which was attached with a metal clip, the clip has rotted and the sensor has fallen off. Would this cause the icing and if so where can I place the sensor to correct the problem?
Yea same thing, I am getting a tickle of water but nothing like I used to.
