When you connect the laptop to the tv with the HDMI cable you will need to press function and F1/F2 depending on your keyboard layout. It is the key with 2 screens on it.
Once you press that windows will show you options for changing displays like Duplicate, Extend, Monitor, Projector(in this case Projector is the TV)
And for audio, you will need to right click on the volume mixer in the system tray and say playback devices. Click on the hdmi one and say set as default.
When this is done, everytime you plug in the HDMI to the TV it will automatically play audio from the TV.

Your computer needs to be looked at by a computer technician as it is not POSTing or passing the Power On Self Test. As you are not able to get a picture on the TV with the aid of an HDMI cable I would say that your problem with the notebook does NOT lie with the LCD screen. It could be a loose connection between a RAM module and the mainboard.

One could remove both modules and clean the gold finger contacts of the RAM modules with tissue paper.

Take care!

Xbox elite connected to TV thru HDMI works fine, but connected via bcs-fs500 receiver = no audio or video Cable tv through receiver works fine Have tried cable tv through receiver inputs HDMI 1 and 2...

Hook your Xbox to tv via HDMI, then hook TV to reciever through digital optical or composite cables. If you try to get your picture through receiver first, you may get picture and sound but, sound may be delayed and picture might not be the best. Bettter to run through tv first then provide sound to receiver.

Hi,

There is usually a keyboard combination to switch between the laptop screen and your TV.

The keyboard toggle is done by holding down the Fn key and pressing one of the F keys (between F3 and F6).

Good luck.

Sony Bravia does not recognize my Dell Inspiron 1525

I have the 1525 and you have to do extra steps each time you want the HDMI to be recognized by the Bravia - too bad it is not automatic as it is with some. Anyway what you have to do is have the HDMI cable connected from laptop to TV then go to your desktop - right click on an open area (away from icons), a menu will appear, let the cursor hover over Graphics Options - you'll then see Output To...then you'll see Intel Dual Display Clone...hover over that and you'll then see Notebook + Digital Television...left click on that and you should see your desktop on the TV in a few seconds. If it does not work the first time...get your movie or whatever you want to show up and ready and go thru these steps again...stupidly complicated aye? when it should automatically detect and show...are other TVs like this?

Dell Laptop - Inspiron 1525

Hi there.
I'm sorry to say but it sounds like there has been a massive power surge causing the motherboard to fry, there is no doubt that this has caused serious damage which is probably now beyond economical repair.
If you have any warranty on the laptop then i suggest you take advantage of that and send it in for repair, the only other options you have is pay Dell for the repair or purchase a new laptop.

Xbox 360 sound problem

HDMI carrys no sound you still need to have the audio cables from the component plugged into the tv. If this doesnt do the trick you should call MS or check your TV's settings maybe there is a special function when using that resolution. Hope this helps.
