I have a canon zr830 and I want to take video from a tape in the camera and put it on my computer. How do I do this?

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Take it to a service provider - seems to be something wrong with the loading drive system.

Some of those av cords are wired for use on Apple computers and the leads into the mini jack are either reversed or they don't line up properly. The best way to get it fixed is to bring the camera into Radio Shack and test the correct cable that you need. You can order one from Canon usa website as well.

To get the USB connection to work requires software to run it. Pinnacle Studio works well with that.

You need software to recognize it. Do you have video editing software in your computer?

There is a recall on some Canon camcorders. Call Canon technical support. They will fix for free as well as free shipping. I had the same problem.
