Try adjusting the door catch, this is the hook that comes out from the top of the machine and clips into the door switch when closed, it can be adjusted further out by loosening the screw. If not then you may need to replace the door switch. This is done by unscrewing th front panel and removing it. The switch is held on by 2 screws and 2 wires. Hope this helps.

I have a problem with my CDW60W13 Currys Essential dishwasher. The door will not click shut and springs open. I've had a look at the locking mechanism and can see nothing wrong.

There is usually a little latch on those mechanism to keep the door closed. If the latch breaks, the lock spring just pops the door back open when you attempt to close it.

I would repair the lock mechanism. Try appliancepartspros.com for the part.

Dryer door pops open during cycle

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire dryer door keeps popping open during the cycle. I suggest making sure that the door has been completely closed before starting the cycle. If this is done, and the door is still popping open, there might be something going on with the door latch. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine why the door keeps opening mid-cycle. Hope this is helpful.

-Best regards-

The door on my Hotpoint Aquarius Dryer CTD00 pops open during cycle is it the door catch that's worn?

If the door latches correctly at the time of wash then it is possible that there is a false trigger to release the door, if so you need to check on the lock.

My KitchenAid Dishwasher door won't stay closed. It keeps popping open after a few seconds.

I experienced the same problem after my tension cables broke. The door fell open with such force that it bent the hinges a little. If you've replaced the tension strings (which you should do every 5-8 years) then you don't have to replace the latch. I did and it didn't solve the problem.
Here's the solution:
Put a towel at the bottom of each side of the door by the hinge.
Push the door closed a couple of times to bend back the hinges.
Remove the towels and you're back in action.
Good luck

KitchenAid KUDSO1FLSS5 - door pops open

I am an experienced techician and have tried all these solutions in the past sometimes at no avail. But replacing the tub which has a limited lifetime warranty along with hinge arms will solve the issue. This has such a margional clearance I can never see anything visible causing the door to pop open

The dishwasher door keeps popping open

I have the same problem and it appears that everyone else who has replaced the door seal runs in top this issue. This is a new seal design that is different from the original. This new seal is obviously poorly designed is placing too much pressure on the door causing it to either not close, or open mid cycle. I am presently duck taping the door closed when running the machine in the hope that the heat cycling the new seal will eventually cause it to deform and relieve the pressure. I see that other have attempted to help the process by increasing the release pressure on the latch. This will be the last Kitchenaid large appliance I purchase.

Detergent door does not open, it completes cycle without using the detergent

    Hi,

  1. The most common problem with the detergent doors on KitchenAid dishwashers is that they either don't open during the cycle or open only halfway. Before looking into more complicated repairs, make sure that the door is able to open. Check the seal around the door and the door latch for soap- and food-related gunk, and scrub it off if present. Sometimes this can keep the detergent door from operating properly. Consider switching detergents, as some liquids and pouch-style dish detergents can gum up the detergent dispensers. Also, make sure that there is nothing blocking the detergent door when the dishwashermag-glass_10x10.gif is loaded. Because of the location of the detergent door, a large item such as a cookie sheet or a pan can prevent the door from opening. Run the dishwasher through a cycle without anything placed in front of the detergent dispenser and see if that solves the problem.
  2. Broken Timer
  3. KitchenAid dishwashersmag-glass_10x10.gif rely on an internal timer to complete the wash cycle properly. When this timer malfunctions, certain steps in the wash process (such as the release of soap from the detergent dispenser) can be interrupted. If the dishwasher detergent door is either not opening or appears to be opening late in the cycle, this is likely the mechanical culprit. A broken timer isn't something that's simple to replace without knowledge of dishwasher repair, so it's best to consult a professional if you suspect that this is the problem.
  4. Malfunctioning Door Components
  5. For the detergent door to function properly, all of its mechanical components must be in working order. Older dishwashers' detergent doors rely on a spring-loaded hinge to pop all the way open when the timer gives the signal. If the door doesn't swing all the way open instantly when it's manually released, the spring may need to be replaced for the dispenser to operate properly. If the particular model is newer and does not rely on a spring to open the door, chances are it either uses a wax motor or a bi-metal switch to release the detergent door at the appropriate time. If either of these components is dying, that can mean that the detergent dispenser will not operate properly.

We have a kitchenaid KUDP01FLSS6 built in dishwasher, and the door pops open several times during a cycle. Is this something that can be repaired or is it just a common problem? Thanks!

You should adjust the spring tension on the door. There are 3 settings. Move it to a lower number to tighten the spring. Be sure to adjust both sides of the door to the same setting.

Door noise

Hello,

Common issue with this dishwasher. Easy fix though!! KitchenAid uses a nylon string that connects the hinges to the springs located along the bottom edges of the dishwasher. I had to pull mine out to perform this service. The nylon string seems to dry out and vibrates as the door opens and closes. All that needs to be done is put some Vaseline or other appropriate lubrication all over the nylon string. Especially where it passes through the roller and stationary guide. That will take care of any squeeking or grinding when opening or closing the door. Be careful as your door will now open just like it did when it was new. Now if I can only figure out how to keep my door from popping open during wash cycles!!!
