if windows then go to
Start->, select My Computer, and rightclick, and choose Manage. now on the left there is disk manager - click it. if the disk is on the list it is working and might just need to be formatet or activated. Disk Manager: http://www.partition-tool.com/images/resource/windows-7-disk-management2-b.gif
Open up the control panel with the drive connected, open administrative tools and computer management. Select storage and see if the drive is listed there. It will probably let you format it from there.
WIth the original freeagent disk in hand,call Seagate and ask if they can give you the product key based upon the sereal number on the disk. If you purchased freeagent on line and downloaded , they wil have a copy of your invoice purchase . Just contact then as ask again for your product key.
Under the Gear looking icon located on each window, there will be a delte option. Just click what you would like to delete, click the icon and press delete.
