I have a cat-5 ethernet cable running from my wireless routerto my tv and im getting no internet connection on my tv and it doesnt even recognize the connection? how can i fix this issue?

Are you talking about direct-connecting via Ethernet to a cable or DSL modem? You shouldn't have to disable wireless to do that. If the cable modem has an open Ethernet port, you should be able to run a straight-thru Ethernet Cat-5 cable between that port and the Ethernet port on your laptop. The laptop should recognize that it is connected to the modem through the direct connection. Check the manual for the cable modem or information supplied by your ISP for connection details. You may have to do some setup on the modem to get an Internet connection, like having your ISP 'activate' the modem. Just be sure your Ethernet cable is a straight-thru, standard Ethernet cable, and not a 'cross-over' cable such as is used to transfer data between two computers.

xbox can't not use wireless, only Xbox 360 can.. due to the older xbox you need cat 5 wire aka Ethernet Cable

first try to check if your wireless can actually detect a network, if it can try to remove ALLthe network that you have on your wireless network and try to add your network again, if still doest work try to uninstall and re install your wireless driver, if it still doesnt work try to restart your router, if still doesnt work try to do system restore to the point where your wireless was workin fine, lastly if still doesnt work try to contact your ISP for some configuration.

When working with routers, CAT-5 cables are the more usual cable used. Your modem's Ethernet Port --- connect it via cable to the router's WAN input. Connect one of the router's LAN outputs to your computer's LAN input with another CAT-5 cable. Go through the appropriate Router Setup by putting http://192.168.1.1 into your Internet Explorer, with ' admin ' for User Name, and no password (just press Enter in Password frame). Once you are in to the router setup, you can select your Network Name (SSID) and then implement whatever Security you might want to use. You should be up and running by now, nhave lots of fun!

Your PS3 supports both wired and wireless. Heres how I have mine set up, Ive been running wired since day 1. 1st- hook your ps3 up to your modem or router with an ethernet cable. {im assuming ps3 is plugged into the tv, if not hook it up}
2- go in to your network setting on ps3.. If you start at the far left go over click and all the way down. You will see network settings. click on it and go down to the 3rd option there.. Internet connection settings. You will get a pop up that says your ps3 will be disconnected from the internet if you proceed, just hit ok. It usually automatically detects if you have the ethernet cable plugged in but just in case it doesnt go ahead and select wired. after that, just select auto for everything else. You will go through about 5 questions and it will be ready to do an internet connection test. All should be well.
If that doesnt work, make sure all the cables are plugged in and try again.If you are able to connect to the internet after that but get booted off, go back into network settings again and disable the media server. Hope that helps.. Happy Gaming

Sounds like the actual ethernet adaptor (hardware) may be out but first I would run a really good spyware and see if it is infected. This one works really great (see link at bottom) although, it is not free but you can download, installl and it will run scan and tell you if you have malware (which is why it will not connect). It only cost 30 bucks to purchase which is reasonable to take off the malware and get back online. Beats a techs fee.

If there is no sign of malware, then the hardware is out and you will need to replace. These can be purchased at Wal-mart for under 60 bucks. Hope this helps!

Test your CAT 5 cable on your laptop again, but first right-click your wireless icon, and click open network connections. Then right-click the LANconnection and click Enable. That should do the trick.

you may need to get a cradlepoint router, which is used aircards and cell phone connections. this should help with the connection on the PS3
