I have a Kohler CV15T engine on a walk behind mower. A dog chewed the wires off. I have 2 wires coming from the mower harness that go to "engine". I have a white wire and black wire disconnected at the engine near the module. The engine is retractable start...has no solenoid/starter. Do these wires hook together?

there isnt an easy way to wire a brings engine to a kohler wire harness , best thing is to get a harness from another rider that came with the briggs and use that harness . best place i would know to look is try criagslist. org and post in the farm and garden section for what you need . or least see if someone can send you their model info so you can order the wireing harness . this is the best and easiest thing i know to do .
The starter should have two wires, a power and a ground. The power you can splice to the power wire coming from the battery. The other wire needs to be grounded to a bare metal part. Usually just installing it under an existing bolt works fine. Just be sure to clean the spot with a wire brush and a rag so it gets a good clean connection.
You might check with a Harbor Freight store either locally or on the web. They have several engine sizes available (with overhead valves) that are Chinese made, but the prices are certainly reasonable. You may have to do some adapting to get one to work. Hope this helps!
if it is a briggs engine it is in the wiring harness coming off the alternator, where it plugs into the main harness coming out of the dash area. it will appear as a lump in the wire [sometimes there will be two diodes]. if it is a kohler, it will be in the wiring harness under the shroud covereing the flywheel
If the dog chewed up the coil wire you will need a new coil. How did the dog GET to the wiring? Did you let the dog live? The wires are color coded. Splice the wires color to color. Depending on how badly the dog tore up the wires, you may want to get a new, (or used) wiring harness and re-wire the bike following the pattern of the existing wiring.
