Hi, when this happens it usually means the operating system is corrupt, the best thing to do is to reflash your Archos, you obtain the required software and then plug into the USB port and then using the proprietary software to reflash the internal memory on the Archos to replace the operating system, and restore it to functionality, if you ONLY copy over the system files you will keep all you old settings.
You need to go to the Archos website to obtain the Firmware also there is s "How to" reflash your Archos 7.

click on the tools at the bottom of the drop down list will be internet options you will a box with delete browsing history on exit tick in the box or select setting where you be able to change the options
