A 20" bar unfortunately does not narrow it down. Fortunately both the .325 pitch chain and the 3/8 pitch chain sharpen at 25 degrees and you should have one of these chains. Hope this helps.

What is the chain saw blade angle?

This is the angle that you cut each tooth. if you have a chain sharpener you will see numbers on it with a line directly below it. A good standard is 25 degrees, if you want it for ripping purposes you can modify the angle.
moz-screenshot-2.pngmoz-screenshot-3.pngYou really want to match the angle that the blade or chain as been set for.

I need to know the right angle to sharpen my chainsaw

If your saw still has the original bar and chain, it was supplied with a .325" pitch chain and you'll need a 3/8" round file with a sharpening guide to properly sharpen it.

Here's a link to the Husqvarna site to the Rancher 455 models so you can select the correct manual to download, that matches your particular saw, based on the year of manufacture, etc.

There is some excellent information about maintaining your saw, along with a really good guide with step-by-step instructions for proper sharpening.

If you're having trouble figuring out the right manual for your saw, use the online Customer Support page and they'll reply.

Hope you find this Very Helpful - Best regards!

HUSQVARNA MODEL 50 BAR AND CHAIN UPGRADE

I have a nearly worn out 42 cc Husquvarna that uses a 20 inch bar very successfully. With proper filing of the chain you should be able to run a 22 inch bar very well. Ensure that the roller nose on your new bar matches the pitch of the clutch sprocket that you are using at present. If not, have your chain saw shop change them so they match.

I would advise that you change the bar and sprocket to use a .375 chain as this will be easier to sharpen successfully than the .325 pitch chain you might be presently using.

I am six feet tall and short bars are murder on my back so this is why I use no shorter than 20 inch bars on my saws.
