A line from top to bottom or side to side is a dead or failed pixel sensor. There are hundreds of pixel sensors at the edges of the screen, when one fails it causes a line, the line can be red, blue, white, or black. Unfortunately, there is no way of repairing the line, other that replacing the screen.

Toshiba Satellite L15-S104 Gets VERY HOT

Make sure that there is good air flow all around the laptop, including the bottom. By resting it in your lap, you may be constricting the air flow. This is one of the reasons why laptops are now called notebooks! They really don't work well on your lap. When I use my notebook, I make sure that the fans have a clear path so that I don't have this problem. Try that and see if it works. You could also use a notebook cooler. They run about 20.00, depending on the type and size.

Replacing a cd-rom drive

Most notebook optical drives are not too bad, usually only 1 or 2 screws hold the optical drive in from the bottom. Remove the screws, pop out the drive and pop in the new one. For the drive, try here:

CMOS or RTC battery for this laptop : can it be replaced

Hi AshishB, Yes, Toshiba does refer to the CMOS battery in their literature as the real time clock battery. Your retailer is half right, the battery is on the motherboard but its attached via a connector and it can be replaced. Here are links to a couple of venders that sell the RTC battery for your laptop: - Http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,L15-S104,Laptop,Batteries-Backup-RTC.aspx - http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Laptop-motherboard-battery-cmos-L15-S104_W0QQitemZ170060189842QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
