Hello,
Thank you for using fixya. My name is Carlo.
There are two ways that you can do to turn off/on the touch pad in your acer aspire.
1. Press FN + F7. It will turn off the touchpad and will turn on once you press the same buttons again.
2. If the buttons do not work. You can do this:
1. Go to control panel>hardware and devices>Devices and Printers>Mouse
2. CLick on the last setting on the right.
3. Click on Disable in the Mouse Properties.
5. Click OK.
Just go to the same area when you want to enable your touchpad again.
I hope this helps.
Carlo

Try holding 'Fn' and then hitting 'F7'. If this isn't the correct button (I may be mistaken) then:
[Note: It is rather frustrating and difficult to re-enable the touch pad if no other pointing device (eg. USB mouse) is present so have one handy!]
1. head to 'Control Panel'
2. double click 'Mouse' icon
3. in the top right of the now open 'Mouse Properties' window go to the 'Device Settings' tab
4. select the touchpad in the list under 'Devices:' then click 'Disable'
5. a warning may appear notifying you that: 'You are about to disable the only pointing device', click 'ok'.
And you're done, hope this helps!
OMG, Fn + F7, looking me right in the face.....THANK YOU!!!!!!
