It means the printhead [laser] is "missing" - but usually it's just the data cable at the end of the printhead has popped out. Very common - we have hundreds of Okis at our corp and I've fixed this many times. Turn the power off, pull either the left or right plastic clip AWAY from the printhead, and carefully insert the data cable back into the connector on the printhead. Put one end of the printhead nearest the data cable back into its plastic clip, and make sure the spring is seated on its little post on the bar, and then click the rest of the printhead into the clip on the end opposite of the data cable, again making sure the spring is seated on its post. Turn the printer on - your error should now be gone.

The Oki error 124 refers to:

LED Head Missing, Color:Black
When black LED head connection cannot be detected.

If restarting the printer doesn't solve the problem, i'm afraid it's the printer fault and you should call the OKI service.

My solution was even easier:
1. Turn the printer off

2. Remove the cartridge from the printer
3. Turn it on
4. Insert the same cartridge again
That's it!

I have an Oki B4600. I recently replaced the drum & toner. The print is very light and part of the page is illegible. No error message is displayed. Please advise

The problem is most likely with your fuser and will need to be replaced. Contact Oki tech support and see if your printer is still under warranty, you will need to give them your printer's model number and serial number. Sometimes the cheapest solution is to replace the printer all together.

B4600, "Install Toner, Toner Missing" Error

Hello,

I had a customer with that problem and the issue was the toner cartridge. If you take it out of the photoconductor unit and look on the end there should be a metal connector tab. If you look on the left side of the photo unit you will see metallic contact points that need to connect to the metal tab. Oki has several toners that will physically fit in the B4600 but they have to be the ones with the metal tab to work right or you get the error. The correct toner part numbers are: 43502301 or 43502001

Check your toner for the tab is that is not the problem, get back with me and we can go from there.
