After 5 years of playing region 2 DVD's machine comes up with "incorrect region code" and ejects

  • hillob May 12, 2011

Hi - I tried this but pressing setup and then scrolling through the menu's does not bring up any menu/setting saying "lock"?
There is a menu for "area code" but it asks for a 4 digit password which I don't think I have ever set or used so I cannot continue. Possibly there is a standard password but I cannot find my manual. Any further ideas?
    Thanks very much.

  1. Open the disc tray
  2. (Press SETUP and scroll to 'Lock')
  3. Press 0 seven times
  4. (Press ENTER, Setup)

Testimonial: "The solution worked! Excellent. I just needed to realise that when you said "lock" you meant a symbol - not a word. Great tip - thanks."

Incorrect disc region code

Look at the region code of the DVD that plays on the vehicle DVD if it is the same of the others that do play it's not a region code issue. If the others are a different region to the DVD that plays or the disc says it is region free. Then you might have a problem with the region code settings on the machine. You can look up the model number of that player to see if you can change the region code.
Otherwise check out the player to see if it needs cleaning or is faulty.

The dvd player says "incorrect

The DVD player is region locked and will only play DVDs from a particular region. The cheap DVDs are probably region 0 and so will work on any DVD player. You can scour the internet for a code hack to change the region (I've had a quick look and not found anything).

Region code 2 on LG DV492H not playing DVD with same code

You could try to set you firmware to Region 0 (all countries) you can do this with the remote

Eject the disc tray, and while it's open hit 0 - 0 (two zeros) on the remote.

Then enter 0 for the region code (for all regions.)

Bought a dvd series of Ice Road Truckers series 2 off E-Bay. All my dvd players wont play. One says incorrect regional code. How can I get them to play.

you probably purchased a different region dvd. there is a code breaker for your dvd but it will stay on that code that you place in. ebay sells multiregional dvd players. and ebay also sells the codebreakers. look under multiregional dvd and search for the listing

Un-lock dvd region code

Power up the unit with no cd/dvd on the tray
Press "eject" on your remote to eject the tray
Press "setup" on your remote
Key in "5018" using your remote
Key in "0"
Press "play" on your remote

Tada~ a region free dvd recorder

Tried this but unfortunately the machine keeps reverting back to Region 4.

Has a step been left out or is there some other way of changing the code to "0".

1. Use the remote to power on DVD player
2. Ensure there are NO DVDs in the drive
