OK....I run it on normal cycle...water comes in and sprays around. I checked with the arms several times. Then the soak light turns off ( I called it pre-rinse),it drains all the water, then something hums..don't know if it's the pump or motor. No more water comes in and it will hum to the end of the cycle if you let it alone. Desperately need dishwasher! Am a busy mom w/ 5 children, and don't like messy counter tops!

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

OK,did what you suggested and it has quit filling but something still hums-now what?

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

The float was down when it made the humming noise. Tried to run it through another cycle and now it just sits

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

Float is in down position and all water pumped out.

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

    No to both ?'s.

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

I can try...if not will wait till this evening and let hubby do it.

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

Will leave it till tonight....possibly after 7. Thanks!

  • ernwilyoder Mar 01, 2011

Thanks! Might wait till tonight and let hubby wrestle with it!

  • ernwilyoder Mar 02, 2011

This evening I tried a cycle again and water came in. This morning when I tried to do it several times in a row, no water came. It had that humming noise this evening after we tried it with the water turned off. Where is the inlet valve?

  • ernwilyoder Mar 02, 2011

Husband here...how do we proceed? What do we do to get into the control board?

  • ernwilyoder Mar 07, 2011

Thanks for your help.My husband tried all your suggestions but didn't find a problem and since he won't have much time to work on it in the next few weeks we decided to call a repairman.

  • ernwilyoder Mar 07, 2011

Thanks for your help. My husband worked on it some but we plan to call in a repairman.

On a "normal wash cycle"
turn all the spray arms at the 12 o'clock position.
Please answer the folling questions.
Will water enter the unit?
After water has stopped entering the unit can you hear the wash cycle start? The wash pump on? and water being sprayed?
Now open the door and see if the spray arms have moved.
Reading what you have posted I just want to make sure that there is never a wash cycle running.

Please post answers.

Thank

Keith

Here is a link to your units inside the tub part I will need you to check.

it is part number 15 on the drawing. it is called the float. it is located inside of the tub....open the door and usually is on the left hand side. Is it domed in shape.

it sounds as if all the cycles are running normal but the float is stuck in the up position telling the drain pump to continue draining...that may be why you hear a constant hummm because the drain pump is being told there is still water in the tub to be drained when in fact there is none.

This float may be stuck in the up position. Manually lift it up and down and see if it moves freely. While moving it listen carefully for a clicking sound....this is a switch that actuates the draining and or filling process. When float is in the down position it tells the water valve that it is safe to send water. When the float is in the up position it is telling the water valve not to send anymore water.

If you can hear a clicking sound when manually moving the float the switch may be o.k. but should still be checked with a ohm meter. The float when moved up and down must not hang up in the up position....it must go back down.

Or run another normal wash and when you hear the hummming again open the door and see in what position the float is in. if it is in the up position we know that is our issue.

    Please post your findings....

Is the float in the down position or the up position?

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2011

Sounds as if the control may not be telling the cycle to stop and then continue.
Are there any error codes displayed or blinking lights?

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2011

Can you read a volt meter? We will need to start taking readings off the control board

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2011

whatever you want to do...let me know. If you do not have electrical experience I strongly suggest that you leave it to someone that does. You will be measuring live current/power.
I'll be here tonight if needed.Just leave me a post ok?

Here is a link to show the first part that needs to be checked. It is the float switch. Check for continuity. When engaged the switch must change states.Ensure the unit is off and one wire is disconnected when testing.

    Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

If switch checks good please proceed to the diagnostics test below.

    Press the following in sequence

    HEATED DRY
    → NORMAL → HEATED DRY → NORMAL → HEATED DRY → NORMAL

This test will go through and check componenets....it can be advanced with the start key.An error will appear if the test detects a problem with the function running.

A better idea.....email me and I will email you back the service manual. it would take me forever to input everything in this dialogue box....[email protected]

That way we can both be looking at the same data. Read over the diagnostics....if we get nothing from it we will than concentrate our efforts on the control panel All schematics are in this manual.

Here is a link that will provide the the part that will be needed to check.

    Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

It is part number 11 on the drawing. This is the float switch. The float must actuate the switch to function properly. Power must be off and disconnect one wire to the switch. You will be checking for continuity then when switch is actuated the switch must change states. If it does not change states when actuated then the switch is bad and will need to be replaced.

If the switch checks good you will need to email me [email protected] I will send you the service manual which will show you the diagnostics test we will need to perform.

If we receive no error codes when running the test then we will need to start checking the control. All of the schematics are in this manual I will send. We will be able to walk through it step by step together.

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Try testing the inlet valve by filling and draining several times in succesion. ( you can just use a "rinse cycle" and "cancel" option to do this) If it fills, drains but then fails to fill eventually, it is most likely the water/fill valve. Let me know how it goes and I'll try and help you move forward from there. Regards, Macmarkus :)

    Hi again,

If that is the case there is one more factor to rule out to confirm it is indeed a inlet valve. If you can, turn the water off which supplies the dishwasher, start as you would on a rinse, normal, any cycle and if you hear the same "humming" sound as you did prior, replace the valve. It should be available at places such as "repairclinic.com" or "searpartsdirect.com" to name a couple. Let me know if you require assitance in performing that repair and I'll help in any manner I can. Good luck.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

    OK,

Keep me posted when you get a chance.

    Good luck.

    Hello,

If you remove the access panel ( toeplate ) below the main door and look to your left you should see the valve with the water supply line going to it. I'll send you detailed instruction with pictures if you need them let me know.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

Whirlpool quiet partner II stops running or won't complete it's was cycle, sometimes is will wash for a few minutes and stop or it will stop before the water even starts to flow.

I had the same problem with my dishwasher. After hearing that the motherboard was the problem I decided to take a closer look. There were two capacitors (1000 microfarads, 6.3 volts) that looked a little suspect. The tops of capacitors should be flat...these looked like soda cans that had been left in the freezer. Got on eBay, located the capacitors for roughly $3 and $4 shipping, for approx total of $10. Soldered the two new capacitors into the motherboard and put it back together. As soon as I closed the door, the dishwasher started draining the water. When I ran a Normal cycle it completed successfully. Saved myself over $120!

Whirlpool gold- quiet partner III

An angel of mercy on another blog posted this solution and it worked for me as well. My Whirlpool Quiet Partner Dishwasher would not work due to the CLEAN light flashing in 7 interval sequences. I followed these steps and my dishwasher is not working perfectly...hope it works for you:

"Well for mine which is a Whirlpool Gold Model # GU2400XTPS3, I found the seq of buttons that I had to push to reset the curcuit board. I think it may of been in this forum somewhere. But I had to push - Sani Rinse, Heated Dry, Sani Rinse, Heated Dry, and then the dishwasher went through it's diagnostic cycle and then after that the light stopped blinking and the dishwasher works great. Supposily, there is a Product Tech Sheet behide the kick panel of every dishwasher, but mine was gone so I had to find the information on the internet. You might want to do a serach for the correct seq of buttons you have to push to reset the curcuit board. If you know for sure that the heating element is bad, you will have to order one. "
