I just had the computer replaced in my car.They had to do some reprograming after replacement.Now my 1400xp will not start .It locks and unlocks the car.it turns on the instrument panel lights,but does not operate the starter.Any answers? Thanks Glenn

    I went to the ford dealer.as you advised.They told me the key that is with the 1400xp has to be reprogramed and they con not do that.Where can I go to have that done? Glenn

    This is not a Ford product. It was bought and installed by Circuit City.

You didn't mention what vehicle you have. Nearly all newer vehicles have transponders in the keys so that only the right key can start the vehicle (you can't hot wire it or break the ignition lock) and the remote starter would need this keys' radio ID code to start the vehicle. If the computer was replaced this code may have been changed so the remote starter wouldn't work and would need to have the new ID code programmed into it.

    By 'need to have the new ID code programmed into it' I mean the 1400xp will need the new key programmed to it. Your installer will have to program the new key and reset the unit so that it will operated the vehicle.

The way I understand your question is your vehicle main computer has been replaced and it is not working properly. Since you say you cannot start it, have them come and get it and do what ever additional programming is required. You cannot do this yourself. If this is a remote start issue and you can start your car with the key, take it back and have them make necessary repairs.

    Is this your device: http://www.amazon.com/Python-1400XP-Remo... If this is the case, I don't completely understand what you are asking. I am thinking your vehicle computer was replaced ... you have a Ford? and Ford replaced Ford's computer in your ford vehicle? If this is the case, Ford should be able to fix a Ford product. BTW, you have not mentioned things that would have been helpful in responding to this question.

    If that was the case (Ford replaced your Ford's computer) and now your 'add on' after market 1400XP remote entry will not work as a result, that is a little different. Did you do the install of this after market device? If you did, you received a install manual. I must refer you to this manual for instruction. If this install was done by a shop, including your Ford garage, who ever installed it should be able to set it to work properly, and if Ford, I would demand they set it up for you.

    My seat of the pants reaction reading this over again is your remote start function was disconnected when the new computer was installed. If that is the case, the start relay just needs to be reconnected.

    My next suggestion is if you don't have the install manual, get it from the manufacturer or other source. Here is one: http://www.retrevo.com/s/DEI-1400XP-revi... I recommend you review the manual and review the system in your car. You may be able to figure out the trouble. There is probably a 1-800 support/help number in the book and you may get some help by calling that number. If that fails, you will have to take the car and the manual to your mechanic to solve this trouble.



    I am presently in the midst of installing a remote lock in my older vehicle. Mine is wired exactly per the instructions in the book. I have spoken with the company guru on 4 occasions. This morning, I had to go over everything - EVERYTHING - with the rep like I had never had a conversation with him and the upshot is I have to return the control module to him AGAIN. I am very frustrated - particularly knowing that my vehicle is exactly like the vehicle owned by the company help guy that is 'helping' me. My device is from a different manufacturer. I hope your experience is better than mine. My vehicle has been 'tore up' for more than a month as I continue to fool around with the darn thing. Mine has a remote start capability - however - based on the luck I have had so far, IF I get it to unlock the door I will not press my luck!

We just spent $1000 Canadian at the Buick dealer having trouble shooting and repairs done on our 2006 Terraza.
One of the remotes had an internal broken circuit.

Had to replace the Body Control Module on the AZTEK.
Kissed another $1,000 goodbye.
Selling it.

Frankly, as long as they are working it's fine, but when they start to have problems, it is completely beyond the scope of THIS Fixya ****** to diagnose or attempt to repair.
Makes me want to sell and NEVER get another GM.

Driver door when locked still opens from outside...i replaced the latch assembly and inspected the handle hookups and operation looks like working correctly...does the computer need to be reprogramed

No, the computer does not require reprogramming. Try sitting in the vehicle and try locking your door while inside. Does your door lock immediately unlock itself? This may be caused due to having a set of your keys inside the car. Most Nissan cars will not allow you to lock the door if you have the keys inside the car.

Had to change the battery in my Python Keyless Start/Remote and now it wont work. How do I reprogram it

To program remote:
turn ignition on
press and release programming switch once ( the siren/horn will honk once)
press and hold programming switch
while holding programming switch, press lock button on remote ( the unit will chirp/honk to confirm programming)
release programming switch
turn ignition off
test remote

Replaced the battery in the remote, but still nothing when I go to lock or unlock my door or set off the alarm, nothing happens.

Your remote needs to be "reprogrammed" after battery replacement. Not sure if yours is done in this manner. This is how my remote is reprogrammed on my 1999 Corvette. Stand beside drivers side door, point remote at the car while holding the Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time. Within 10-15 seconds the horn should beep letting you know the reprogramming was successful.

Need to Silence Python Car Alarm 'Chirps' Permanently

I had the same problem, then I downloaded the user manual from the Directed Electronics site. It seems with most of the remotes (1400xp included) all you have to do is press the AUX button and then the Lock/Unlock button. This puts it into Silent Mode and no more chirping late at night or early in the morning, but you still have the ability to have it chirp when you need to by only pressing the Lock/Unlock button. Hope that helps.

I don't know where you live but i would recommend that you either go to best buy or a dealer that sells and install viper alarms and purchase a remote they should have a bitwriter to unlock the remote start brain if indeed it is locked.
