No an IMEI is more of a serial number a PUK or PIN unlock Key is what you need if you incorrectly enter the sim PIN 3 times it can be given to you by your carrier if you contact them

No a puk( pin unlock code)code is a lock that cell providers use on sim cards. an imei ( International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is more of a social security number that associates your phone to the network your on.

Ring your provider, give them the IMEI or your mobile number and they will provide you with the PUK code, this then allows you to create a new pin.
