One quick thing to try would be to use a different SD card, I can see a scenario in which the camera tries to start up - sees a invalid card or a improper format and fails.
Otherwise...try plugging it in your computer via USB. or to another power outlet using a compatible power cable. If it starts and allows you to access the menu, try a factory reset and then try using the battery power again.
Sometimes cameras are very picky about the "Type" of battery they use - there are several. Try a lithium set, or try a NiMH set - just don't mix them.

Panasonic PT-50DL54; turns on and then in 5-10 seconds turns off. Replaced bulb, no help. Cleaned it out, no help. Any ideas?

It does sound like a heat related issue. What did you clean? I removed the back panel. Use compressed air to blow out all the dust from the components inside. Do not blow into the fan on the right.
I also replaced the batteries on the remote with new Alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable. Weak batteries can cause the remote to send POWER OFF command to the set.

Only stays on for 2 seconds

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

If you have replaced the batteries then it is a bad remote. Most builders who install Pentair equipment give you a 3 year warranty and will replace it for free...I do Pentair Warranty in N Cal

Camera turns on for 2 seconds or wont turn on at all.

There is no hardware reset on this model. We have many situation on different make digital cameras that uses AA batteries that would not turn on with some other AA batteries due to Amp requirement on the batteries. Which means that some circuit design would work only with rechargable batteries because they have more power due to higher Amp power. So I would try rechargable batteries for the last resort. -James

Camera says new batteries are dead

I found out how to fix it. (STEP 1.) Take out all of the batteries. (STEP 2.) Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. (STEP 3.) Put the batteries back in and you should be all set.

Kodak Z740

If you replaced that batteries and it isn't staying on, it should be looked at a camera shop to find out why it isn't getting any power to it.

Camera turning off 2 seconds after its turned on

Could be bad batteries. I suggest rechargable batteries since Samsung usually drains batteries really fast.
