HP Photosmart 6150 AIO

When trying to print card stock envelopes 5.5x8.5 on HP 6150 I keep getting a paper mismatch error. Tried changing to custom or finding even a 6x9 envelope. Nothing works. Also tried printing envelope from MS Word 2007 and that didn't work. Occasionaly instead of mismatch error, envelope will go through, but doesn't print. HP tech support is little help. Their solution is to rename the printer 990C and choose USB001 as the port. Is this an HP problem or a Vista issue? Help!

Sounds like it might be the same problem I had on my HP C7180. It seems to be rampant throughout their Multifunction printers.

My Fix, combining several others:

1. Go to Printers and Faxes on your Start Menu. In the Printers window, select Server Properties from the File menu. Use the Forms tab of the Print Server Properties dialog box to view printer forms. You may also see lots of forms that you wish your printer could see, but don't worry, it'll see the one you create now. And be sure when you create your form that you use the narrower dimension for the width and the longer dimension for the height. Usually for envelopes you will print in landscape mode.
2. Select the Create A New Form check box.
3. Enter a new name for the Form in the Form Description For field.
4. Use the fields in the Measurements area to set the paper size and margins. *Use the narrower dimension for the width and the longer dimension for the height*.
5. Choose the Save Form button to save the form. The Save Form button only gets pick-able when you type in a different name than what's there already.

Now go to your document program, such as Word. Make sure the window for the document you want to print is the active window. Select File/Page Setup..., Paper Size Tab, and there select the form you just created from the dropdown list

Still in your document program, select File/Print... then Properties. Select the Features tab, which may be differently named. Under Resizing Options/Size dropdown, select More... and there you'll find your newly created form down at the bottom, under Custom. Pick it.

If you're printing envelopes or other things where the way you view it it's wider side-to-side than it is tall, be sure and select "landscape" in both "page setup..." on your document program and in File/Print.../Properties/Features?Basic Options.

When I did all this methodically, I was able to print my Christmas envelopes. Yay!

    About 3 years ago I set up a customer paper size for a thank you card and its envelope. After reformatting my hard drive and reloading my apps, I found I was getting the paper mismatch error no matter what settings I tried. I followed the instructions above to recreate my custom thank you card size and it appears this has eliminated the paper mismatch problem.

My HP C7180 says mismatch when trying to print DL envelopes. It has worked in the past.

CHECK THE PRINT SETTINGS FOR THE DOCUMENT YOU ARE SENDING TO THE PRINTER YOU MAYBE TRYING TO SEND IT AS A LETTER SIZE INSTEAD OF DL SIZE. YOU CAN FIND THIS IN THE PRINTER PROPERTIES WHEN PRINTING THE DOCUMENT CHECK PAPER SIZE.

I am using quickbooks 2005 and am trying to print full page checks. I am getting a 'paper mismatch' error and cannot print my checks.

Welcome to FixYa.

Paper mismatch errors occur because the product scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the product, the product reports a 'Paper Mismatch' error.

How do you load your check in the printer?

Keep me posted.

Paper size mismatch for A9 envelope (5.75x8.75)

Set the envelope size in the printer properties paper size list to A5 (5.83 x 8.27) which is only .08 inches wider than the short side of an A9 envelope (5.75 inches). The paper size sensor on the HP6520 printer must not be sensitive enough to tell the difference. I can print A9 envelopes just fine using the A5 setting.

Print Envelopes with hp c309a "Paper Mismatch" error

Even though the icon on the printer shows the envelopes entering the printer narrow side first, you have to set the printer up for, and feed the envelopes through, wide side first.

How can I print envelopes on my HP C5180. I've had it over 2 years and have never been able to get it to print any size envelopes. I always get a 'paper mismatch' message. HP tech support has never...

I tried all of the suggestions on here and nothing worked. My envelopes are 5x7.3. So, I finally just put in 5x7 and lo and behold, even though there truly was a paper mismatch this time since that was NOT the size of the envelopes, they printed. I did have to move the text boxes some to make them print correctly. So, I guess the solution for my printer is to actually mismatch the size of the paper/envelope so that you will NOT get the "paper mismatch" error message. Will it work on other size envelopes? I have no clue. This is the first time I've ever been able to print an envelope at all with this printer that I've had 2 or 3 years.

Set the accurate size of the envelope;
Click on Printing Options
Select the Feed method and make sure you do it the same way;
And then try to print this should resolve your Issue

Paper size mismatch - c5280 hp all-in-one printer

I got around this problem by tricking the printer. The paper sensor, on my printer model hp4500 seems to only sense the paper at the beggining of the print job. What I did to trick the printer to print on odd size paper is slide the paper adjuster to 8.5 and put a regular white sheet in. Then put your odd size paper under it. When you print your document set the number of copies to 2 and print. The printer is going to sense that the paper is correct, and start the job. Here is the tricky part... one the first 8.5x11 sheet is almost all the way through quickly slide the paper adjuster over to match the size of your odd width paper. The printer should pick up the odd paper and print the second copy. Fool you printa! You should be able to do batches of odd paper size under the first 8.5X11 I hope this helps.

I have hp photosmart 7850. I was printing envelop and there was paper jam. I pulled out the stock and jammed envelop and ever since the printer would not load paper to prinit and keeps flashing for error....

I have had this happen to several people and also to me. What I did is to take a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy Paper) and put it through the feed putting pressure on the Card Stock and pressing on the feed button. What happens is that a piece of the jammed envlope or document gets caught in the feed way and will not allow the document or envelope ( in your case) to pass. It should solve your problem if it works. Bud
