Hello. My HP Photosmart C309a Series printer keeps on having a paper mismatch and paper jam. We fix the paper jams and mismatches, but when we put another piece of plain 'ol regular printer paper, it jams again. We would like to fix this problem before we have to get a new printer. I just went thru this same problem and I spent 1 hour with HP customer service and we came to the conclusion there is a malfunction with the printer's main sensor. They are sending me a new printer. I also had a problem with making copies and it would only print out 1/4 of the page. I think the sensor is TOO sensitive and if you get a paper jam and you try to pull it out, it creates a problem with the sensor. I suggest two things #1. call HP and go thru the 1 hour and they will determine the same and they will send you a new printer. #2.You can wait, if you have a spare printer, until I receive mine to see if the same thing happens. It could be a defective sensor with this model. I have an older HP PSC 750 and it still works great!

Try This :
Try printing from micrsoft word; Click on tools;
Click on Envelopes and Labels
Click on "OPTION"
Under the TAB Envelope Option you will get Evelope Size;
Scroll Down to the bottom you will get an option "Custom Size " Select it;
Set the accurate size of the envelope;
Click on Printing Options
Select the Feed method and make sure you do it the same way;
And then try to print this should resolve your Issue

check the Tray. there are markings on the tray that tell the printer what paper is loaded, if the tray isn't in the percise location of type of paper, you'll get that error message. If that isn't it, then check the sides of the tray and see if there is any damage. sometimes the tabs on the trays that tell the printer what paper is in it, get broken. If that isn't it, then look inside the printer where the Tray goes in, and look for damage, or bent metal feelers that rub against the tray,
