Some cable modems look for the MAC address of the computer until reset. You can either enter the MAC address from the PC into the MAC spoofing setting on the router OR disconnect and unplug the cable modem for 24 hours and start over. First, plug in the cable modem and connect the cable. 2nd, plug the router cable into the modem and router and plug in the router's power supply. Then connect the computer and it should work fine.

Cannot connect to internet through netgear n300 wireless router

They are pretty straight forward. Connect the ISP modem to main uplink port. Then connect pc to any other port. Done!

Try resetting it by holding the reset in till it cycles through. This will clear all custom setting and try again.

I normally don't suggest firmware upgrades, but try updating.

192.168.0.1 Defual login if you cleared custom is User: admin Password: admin

My computer will not connect to the internet when I hook up to the Linksys wrt150n I don,t understand It because it use to work this is about to drive up the wall I have tried resetting the router but it...

If you can connect to the Internet using the LAN cable then your Internet connection is OK.
If you are trying to connect to the Internet using the wireless connection, then your problem is the wireless settings in either the Linksys or the wireless card in your computer.
First check the wireless settings in the Linksys, ie. the SSID and encryption key.
Second check the wireless settings in the computer's wireless card, this must match the route's wireless settings. If it matched then do a Repair connection. this will get the Linksys to issue a new IP address to the wireless card.computer.
If the Linksys wireless settings were changed then configure the wireless card in the computer with these new settings.

We are on Starband Satellite internet. Have windows programs , both vista and xp. We have the linksys G wireless internet system. How do we install it ?? So far, when we put it in, nothing works. No...

Yes you can but it is not as easy as using a router with a cable or dsl connection.
The 360 modem requires the Mission Control software in order to run properly so you can't just hook it straight to a router.
What you need to do is use an old computer to sit in the corner and act as a router(kind of) and then connect it to a real router.
When your finished you won't even need a monitor for it. You will need either two network cards in it or 1 network card and a usb port to hook it up to the 360 modem. Make sure network cards are also working correctly. Install the starband mission control software and make sure it is working correctly.

In Winxp go to network connections and right click on the one hooked to the starband modem and click properties. Now click on the advanced tab and check "Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection.
You can plug the other network cable straight into a switch and this computer will hand out ip addresses through ICS(Internet connection sharing) built into winxp.

You can also get a wireless router and change the ip address of it to match the range that ics is handing out and disable the dhcp server so that you don't have two things handing out ip addresses.
If you use the web accelerator you will have to put it in the browser of each computer that you will be using (in the browser under proxy). It will be something like 192.168.0.1:9877.

Also make sure your running a firewall on your little router-computer. If the computer is running winxp professional you can take the monitor off and use remote desktop connection to check on things or to control it. Or search the Internet for VNC.

Router Won't connect to internet

The cable modem sometimes register the hardware MAC address of the connected device. So your PC may be registered and it won't accept the router now. Connect the WAN port of the router to your cable modem and power the modem off and on again. It should re-register the connected device and now your router should work.

Router not seeing internet connection

If you are on cable internet, you need to perform MAC Address Cloning. Access the router's setup page using your main PC, under SETUP tab, there's a sub-tab called MAC Address Clone. Enable that and click on "Clone My PC's MAC" then click on Save Settings. Power cycle the router and the modem. You should be online after that.

When I set up the router It comes back with the internet is not hook up, but when I hook the intern et up to the lap top it goes right through Please help me with this problem

try restarting the modem while it is connected to the router. the modem probably thinks that it is hooked straight up to a computer not a router. if that doesn't work go to the web gui by going to the routers ip address on a computer connected to the router. the easiest way to find its ip is to go to run (or the bottom search bar if in vista) and type in cmd. once this is up type in ipconfig /all look for the the default gateway. write this number down somewere.
next go get on a web browser (internet exploiter or fire fox) and in the address bar type in that number. this will take you to the web gui. start adjusting the router so that it works with your internet service.
