If you are referring to an actual "regular" mouse, unplug it from the USB and try plugging back in again.

If you are referring to the "TouchPad" type on a laptop, usually there is a tiny button near the touchpad that you may have inadvertently shut off by hitting it. Mine is right at the top part toward the screen, but still part of the touchpad. If you can't find the little button then refer to your manual if you got one to find out where the off button is for your touchpad and turn it back on.

hope this helps, if not I will check further to see what to do!

On my lap top this morning and the pup walked over it and knocked it off now when i put it back on and go tp put my pass word in i cant move my cursor how do i get it working again

Hi

If you're very lucky, there's no damage. Press the central button between the left click and right click buttons. This is a Mouse Lock/Unlock button.

If not, in the short term, you can connect a desktop mouse to one of the USB ports and use that instead of the laptops touchpad..

In the long term, if there has been damage to to the touchpad asssembly, a technician will need to open the panel and seen if it's a loose cable that needs reconnecteing or a damaged component that needs replacing.

I hope this helps.

My mouse pad on my lap top isnt working, it moves around but when i click it wont select or click or i dunno what to call it lol, **** the right click works, just not the left.

Sounds like the track pad button is broken. Unfortunately that would mean it needs physically replaced. I might suggest using a USB mouse instead.

Hello barbmike, these instructions will help you.
  • First, click on the "Start Button," in the [Start Search Window].
  • Type: mouse; the "Mouse Properties" window will open.
  • You can change the "Button Configurations" to exactly how you want the "Mouse" to respond.
  • Check the {Mouse} Status? {Enable}
  • Try "Updating the Drivers," by clicking on the "Properties" button.
Now in the event that neither of these solution solve the problem?
  • Try "Uninstalling the Mouse.
  • To "Uninstall the "Mouse."
  • Disconnect all the Mouse Devices "Safely," {USB...}, that are attached to the Computer.
  • Turn-off the Computer.
  • Next, turn-on the Computer, and go back to the "Mouse Properties."
  • This time click on the "Change Settings" button.
  • Next, click on the "Driver" button, and select the "Uninstall" button.
  • Once that is finished, [Shut-down] the Computer again!
  • Now, you want to "Reconnect" all the devices that were connected before.
  • "Turn-on" the Computer.
  • You will repeat exactly what you did from the start, this will "Reinstall the {Mouse}."
!Important "Restart the Computer again, after all changes have been made."

Go to this "Website," and "Fill-in" or {Choose} any information needed to get the "Drivers" you need. Than you'll be able to "Download the Drivers."

I think by pressing the hot key you have enable the dualmode of the graphics card and the pointer has moved to the otherside so you have to try to bring the curser to extreem left or right .and then right click on the desk top and choose the graphics cards display manager to set the display mode to single and you are done.

Then go to the mouse and press the connect button on that and just left or right click to activate it.
Let me know how you get on or if you need any more help.

Usually Vista does not need driver to install an USB Mouse.
Try this:
Turn off the laptop, then put the mouse connection. Turn on again. See if now it is working. The mouse should be connected in "off"
If still does not work, try put in other USB port of the laptop. Usually a laptop has at least 2 USB port. Remember to connect it always in "off".
