The control locked button is on and the washer is locked up

Press any of the buttons on the control panel to see if the buttons are operational or check to see if the "Control Locked" indicator light is lit. If the control panel is operational, you may mistakenly lock the door.

If you push the end of cycle button for 5-6 secs. It turns the control lock on, do it again, and it turns the control lock off, on both the washer and the dryer

Lock Function

You can lock the controls to prevent any selections from being made. Or you can lock the controls after you have started a cycle. children cannot accidentally start the washer by touching pads with this option selected.

To lock the washer, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds (on some models use SIGNAL button). To unlock the washer controls, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds. The control lock icon on the display will light up when it is on.

NOTE: The POWER button can still be used when the machine is locked.

To turn off the control lock press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL for 3 seconds

There is a button on the control panel with a marking under it that says "Press and hold for 3 seconds to lock/unlock control". Look for the said button then press and hold it for 3 seconds or until the control lock light turns off. The button is usually the Auto Dry Level button for Kenmore Elite dryers and the Drain/Spin button for Kenmore Elite Washer. Whirlpool Duet Washers and Dryers use the End of Cycle Button to lock and unlock the control.

Sometimes the problem is due to electronic glitch and unplugging the machine for at least 30 minutes may solve the problem. But if the control cannot be unlocked by pressing and holding the button specified above or by unplugging the machine, the control panel electronics may need to be replaced.

Locking controls

or option changes during a cycle. When CONTROL LOCKED is
lit, all buttons are disabled. You can lock the washer while it is
operating.

To lock the controls

The CONTROL LOCKED status light glows.

To unlock the controls
