I have a CDR 765 Philips recorder. It doesn't work on recording. The error message is "NO OPC". Thank you

It means the disc you're trying to record onto is for DATA, not AUDIO, which it must be for a consumer recorder. See page 10 of the manual for Additional Information.

If you just treat the CDR as a tape deck, I'm pretty sure your mixer has accomodations for that. Then you won't have to connect the amp to the CDR and anything you want to mix/monitor will be available to the amp.

you prbly need to replace the burning laser which i would imagine is still avail however the cost of the laser may not b a prblm but fitting it could b

I HAVE A PHILIPS CDR 870 "OPC FAIL" PROBLEM. I HAVE RECORDED ONTO CD-RW, AND NOT YET FINALISED THE DISK AFTER RECORDING, IN ORDER THAT I CAN GO BACK LATER TO ADD FURTHER RECORDINGS. AFTER SWITCHING THE MACHINE BACK ON OPC THEN OPC FAIL FOLLOWS, EVEN WITH NEW DISKS CD-R AND CD-RW. MGHT THE MACHINE ITSELF REQUIE CLEANING OR IS THIS A FAULT? I AM USING MAXCELL DISKS, BOTH TYPES. I suggest you try cleaning the lens...

If the wrong disc was inserted, say a music disc, there would surely be a message to that effect. If no such message is displayed I would guess the unit is faulty.

I have a Phillips 775 CD Recorder, and can only get it to record using Maxell CD-R Music Pro brand blank discs. They usually come in packs of 10 and are in full-size jewel cases. Haven't bought any in awhile and am not sure about availability.Hope this helps.

I've just spoken to a friend who also has one of these older Philips recorders & he has the same problem.

As per my previous post, he fixed his problem by locating old stocks of blanks. New audio discs seem to have been manufactured & optimised for fast writing speeds (up to 32x speed) & this is causing the problem (you can't write at x1 or x2 speed to these new speedy discs).

Trying a few different brands of discs to try out is a whole lot cheaper than a repair. I suggest when you find a brand that works, you stock up on these discs as it seems they will become ever rarer.

how would I go about fixing the lazer problem with this issue of OPC Error when I push record. Sometimes when I use a lens cleaner, it will records some cds and then the error shows up again. Any help, Thanks

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

IMPORTANT:
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!
