Question about Fisher Freezers

1 Answer

Hi i have a E5221 rt d fisher and paykel fridge freezer, freezer at top, the freezer always gets a build up of ice that collects on the slats and has a slightly swollen back wall witch seems to have ice behind there, i clean the freezer out once a month to get rid of the ice. My main problem the last few days i'm getting a constant drip inside the fridge witch is coming from the vent at the top of the compartment. Cleaned the ice out and the fridge but still dripping. Is there anything i could do or do i need it checked? And can it be dangerous ?? Thank you Geraint.

Try to clean the drain of your unit maybe it is clog up declog it to avoid drip. u said that ther is a build up of ice this means auto defrost not activate try to chek the defrost heater or defrost timer if have the unit this. or try to allign the door gasket possible theres a gap entry of outside air cause of build up of ice. bec it is came from moisture of air out side or avoid to much door opening.goodluck.

Find the water drain hole/pipe and clean it thoroughly with a pipe cleaner or other softish flexible rod. That should allow the water to drain away. Make sure back of the unit is clear and clean so water drains and evaporates off properly.

The system is either blocked or you have a gas leak but i would expect it is blocked and the only way to find out is to get a refrigeration engineer to check it for you, but explain the problem to him first and make sure he can help before you spend money.

Why do I have ice buildup on freezer floor of my samsung?

Check for a clogged drain line. Snake out and get some vinegar in there. Any water collecting from the defrost cycle is supposed to be led away and outside from the unit

Samsung double door (fridge) the fridge cooler part is iceing up, the fan switches on and off you can hear it is catching on ice

There is ice build-up behind the plastic casing. If this is
not removed it will get worse, If you are pretty handy you can remove the white
casing at the back of the fridge and remove the excess ice. If not turn off fridge
and let it defrost completely. The alternative is to call Samsung if still in warrantee,
if not in warrantee they will charge you to compete this and it will not be
cheap!!

My freezer is over freezing and my fridge is undercooling. there is also water collecting on the top shelve of my fridge.

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution thanks! Mike.

Ice collecting under bottom of Freezer drawer/ seal round door intact/ food staying frozen/ Ice is cleared periodically but then builds up again

Your defrost drain hole is clogged. Look for the drain hole in the bottom rear of the freezer section. Turn off the fridge. Heat the drain hole with a hair dryer and clear the ice. Pour a quarter cup of bleach into the hole.

Leaking frost-free Zanussi fridge-freezer

Has this thing a separate frezer and cooler compartment.
Have tried to completely defrost and clean that thing.
At times like in airco's the pinch valve for the cooling process to effect (expansion) is stuck frozen, or very seldom broke.

Water Dripping Inside

Sounds like a blocked defrost drain. By "American" I presume you mean side-by-side.
I had a similar problem with a freezer-on-top style Samsung. The solution to that was to defrost the freezer, remove the false backing plate in the freezer (required removal of the ice cube tray. the panel just pops out with a bit of pulling). The drain hole beneath the freezer coils was blocked with ice. This drain passes down into the fridge and then out the back of the fridge into the evaporation pan next to the motor. There is a collector pan under the freezer coils, this and the drain hole were filled with ice. When the freezer goes into its self-defrost cycle the water collects here and then overflows into the fridge.
I removed the ice with hot water/vinegar mixture (so it doesn't re-freeze immediately) and simultaneosuly used a bit of chiselling with a screwdriver to clear the drain plug. I did this from inside the fridge working up the drain hole into the freezer. The whole job took about an hour.
