I had to reformat my xp os on p4s800 and all sorts of drivers are missing > yellow qestions marks listed for ethernet card, video ontroller and video controller vga compatible

You will need to re-install the driver for each component.

If you no longer have the CD's, you can download the drivers from each manufacturer's web site.

My hard drive went out and after replacing it I can not get my ethernet on the demension 2400 to work nor can I get my video card to resize.

that is because the driver for both the video card and the network card is missing. (right click on my computer, go to hardware, then device manager) everything under other devices, are missing drivers. find the driver CD and install it one by one. (check also with your recovery CDs, usually , it is CD number2). note when the video card driver is missing, windows defaults the the standard VGA driver , so you can see at least something, and u are not totally blind looking at black screen. that is why you could not change the resolution.

Missing Drives for Dell Optiplex GX260 PC Desktop Problem

if you don't have the cd with the drivers and utilities, then you can download the drivers online with another computer. (you will need a thumb drive or cd to save it on) you will also need to make sure you know what brand of ethernet card your computer came with. once you get that ethernet card working, you can get online and download the remaining drivers, possibly through windows update. be sure to select custom update, not express, so it will search for the hardware drivers for you.

MISSING SOFTWEAR FROM COMPUTER

Go to Lenovo's support site on another unit, enter the model of your unit (it's on the bottom of the laptop) and download the drivers for the items XP didn't have drivers for.
It's not uncommon these days to have very few drivers provided by the operating system.
No worries.
Good luck
