Have isolated problem to vhf/uhf connection point. white lines flash in pic. w/a popping sound & if they stay for very long there is a buzzing as in over white or over modulation. problem shows when cable signal is fed direct to tv or thru vcr to tv. other tvs do not exhibit same problem so it's not the cable. have tried other ac outlets & same problem. other inputs; dvd, vcr work fine. cable signal thru vcr tuner fed to ht processor is fine but that is fed via component inputs to tv. sony has been NO help either online or phone with their "super-duper" hotline support team!

Hi,
Problem seems with main tuner in this tv as other AV inputs working fine so please replace main tuner (TU2) to solve this issue.
There are two tuners mounted on A board TU1 and TU2, please replace TU2 and part number would be written on tuner itself.
TV is approx 10 years old so I would recommend that do not spend lots of money on it.
Thanks.

Which is better, vhf or uhf

In many business settings you can use either VHF or UHF with success.
VHF: Especially good for people who work somewhat line-of-sight or outdoors. VHF gets around rocks, dirt, hills and trees well and can also be used in many indoor situations.
UHF: While VHF and UHF will both operate line-of-sight up to 2 miles, UHF (450mAH range) gets in and around metal better and even has a better metal punching capability. It also works well in and around concrete structures.

Wiring a mic to a ham radio.

Get the schematics, isolate the circuits, and apply the fix. But... You probably want all those details.

Why is the VHF/UHF function needed. Seems to be working no matter which position it is in.

They are simply different MHz of frequency wave. You should choose according to your environment. VHF works best out-of-doors or line-of-sight, especially around rocks, hills, dirt and trees. UHF has a better ability to work in and around buildings, metal, concrete, and brick. Either will work short distances radio-to-radio and line-of-sight. You will just get better range when using VHF or UHF in the environments described.

Best regards.

VHF channels come in however UHF channels are not

uhf and vhf tuning is performed in one board(tuner brd) there are some on line part stores that can help you with the number and price, you'll need to provide the model number. partstore.com is one of them, but there are more.good luck.

Can't receive pic and sound with converter box.

Connect the RF output of the Magnavox to the VHF/UHF (ANT) input at the back of the TV. Select channel 3 or 4 on the TV. An alternate is to connect the component output (red-white-yellow) to the Audio/Video In jacks at the front of the TV (the red or the white would be left unconnected) and use the TV/Video button on the remote to select that input.

What's the channel frequencies for a common 22 channel motorola 2 way vhf radio?

Not sure what you want.....VHF band ius approximatly 130mhz to 175 mhz..... in that VHF band there is a commercial VHF band aprox. 155 mhz to 175...... the amateur radio vhf band is aprox. 135 to 150mhz.

With amateur radio, any freq in that range can be used...... with commercial radio the FCC cangive a company any freq. in that range also.

If you are looking for FRS/GMRS frequencies they are UHF freqs not VHF.

So I'm not sure exactly what you want......sounds like you might want to program in FRS freqs into an Icom amateur radio. If thats  the case you will need an Icom that will do UHF freqs.
