I have a SONY VAIO and this particular model does not come with a Wave Out / Stereo Mix / What U Hear setting. I want a friend of mine to be able to hear what I am listening to without having to resort to using the microphone. Is there any third party applications that will allow me to do this?

Yes, it's true that Sony computer's are not supplied with the stereo mix feature. However, you can download and install any of the third party stereo mixing software supported by the OS installed in your computer. You can download and install the software using the Google search engine.

While I usually do driver downloads from CNet, this seems to be what you are looking for.

I have a sony vaio laptop and I can't hear any sound, but if I conect hearphones then I hear sound.

I have the same laptop as you, mine is also a Sony Vaio but mine is fine. Did you check the task bar? Along the bottom of the screen on the right, there is a small arrow head, click and select the speaker icon then set up your volume from there. Failing that Pc World should be able to solve it within minuets for a small charge or any local pc/laptop dealer

I recently bought a video capturing device to stream my video 24/7 on ustream. Unfortunatly while using the ustream producer my voice from the cam starts to lag but when, I use the ustream website producer...

The best way is to use a 1/8th" to 1/8th" line-in to connect your audio input and output points on your computer. You will need to have these connected before you open your broadcast console. Alternatively, you can use free programs, such as Soundflower for Macs. If you have a PC, you can set your audio to stereo or wave out mix. To do so, open your volume control, go to 'Options', then to 'Properties', and make sure that 'Wave Out' or 'Stereo Mix' is checked.

Sony vaio VGN-T170P model not install audio drivers in xp

It looks like the current driver for your particular model is still the original version, which is dated 20-Oct-2004. In my experience, audio drivers almost always need to be obtained from the manufacturer -- Sony, in this case.

Click the link at the end of this text to go directly to the driver download page for your model -- this is Sony's eSupport, a user-friendly and sophisticated site. The drivers are grouped into categories and "Audio" is the first one. Click the + and you should see 1 driver available -- download it with the green arrow (when prompted by windows, click RUN... unless you want to save it). Assuming the installation completes successfully, Vaio audio drivers usually enable sound output without requiring you to reboot. But just follow the prompts.

Drivers are here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNT170P

Here is the home page that is specific for your model of Vaio; this is the page you want to bookmark or add to Favorites:

I inadvertently deleted the Line-In Realtek High Definition Audio

Simply re-install the software and all your original data will be restored. If you purchased a downloaded version, go to the site from which your purchased it and request your keycode again, and permission to re-download. Then burn the text file with the keycode and the downloaded installer onto a CD so you won't lose it again. Another solution is to get Nero.

No music out of stereo when using Mororola DC800 and Sony Vaio FW

It's a lot simpler than you think..

1. make sure the cables to your stereo are in the LINE OUT of the dc800, and on the LINE IN or AUX IN of your stereo (trust me, double check them)

2. make sure your DC800 is PAIRED with your computer. this is different with each different "STACK" read the help files on your particular bluetooth stack to help you with this is you need more help. Remember, you have to hold the big "M" button in the front of the DC800 to pair it.

3. when you want to send audio to the DC800, make sure you CONNECT the DC800 using your particular stack. Once the DC800 is paired with your computer, you can often set up a link or icon on your desktop to connect or disconnect the device from your computer.

This should take care of it. If you are still having problems, make sure to check your audio properties to see if the audio is sending to the Bluetooth device. This is USUALLY changed automatically, but sometimes you have to tweak your settings to make sure it's sending to the Bluetooth.
