Either the built on video card is not functioning properly or not activated in the bios. If you have a card that is fitted to an AGP slot it may not be seated properly. If you have a card fitted to an AGP slot and an expansion card placed in the first PCI expansion slot the problem is a conflict between the Video card and the card in that slot. Those two slots share resources. If you are using the built on card make sure it is activated in the Bios, assuming you can get that part to give you video. If you can't there may be a jumper on the board set incorrectly. As a final option, if everything appears to be working correctly it may be the monitor that is malfunctioning or a bent pin on the video cable.

Video stopped working... pc starts to boot ok, then monitor shuts off as there is no signal to it. This is a refurb pc that I've had for only 6 months. How do I know if its the board or the video...

see if you can boot to the Safe mode (F8 at boot, or F12 boot menu, selected HDD, press enter then F8 immediately) see if you get video. If you do, reboot again, on the F8 menu, select Low Resolution or VGA mode (Depending on Windows Version) and see if you have video, if you do then see if you can increase the resolution to the optimal of the monitor (It may be the display settings are too high for the monitor)
If you can boot to the Safe mode but not the VGA mode, the issue is the video driver.
If you have no video in the Safe mode, then the graphics adapter is likely bad

Video keeps crashing

Try booting into boot into Enable VGA Mode. When you start your PC press F8 at boot up. If you video doesn't crash in this mode is could possible be either the driver or the video card may have bad memory. I would try enable video mode first, then update the driver, if you are still having problems you then know that the video memory on the video card is bad. Especially if you are seeing lines or discolored blocks outside of the operating system, for example during boot up then it it definitely hardware.

Solution for "my laptoop seems to want to boot but when is is done booting the screen turns black and remains that"

If the laptop appears to boot up and you can't see an image on the screen, you need to determine if the screen is faulty or the video card.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop's external video port, power up the monitor first and then boot up the laprop. If you get a normal video image on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault is with the LCD screen.
If you don't get an image or POST information, then the LCD screen could be faulty or the laptop didn't boot up.
Please get back to me with the results of your tests and any error messages etc. so I can advise further.

Replaced power supply on T2240 emachine now cant get onboard video" or any video, also tried PCI video card with no results. Need video to see if machine can boot

the fact that your not getting any video is that your computer is not booting or it can't boot right now.

might be best if you found someone to test and help you with it or if you took it to someone.

IBM A31 2652 Video garbled video at boot

This is very possibly a hardware problem, namely a crack in the motherboard. Sorry, no easy or cheap fix for it if that's the case.

Hp compaq dc5000 small form factor

Hi, uninstalling the onboard video will only be reinstalled by Windows next time you boot up. Disabling it in the Device Manager might and mght not do the trick if your mb is set on using the onboard. You might want to try and disable the onboard video in the CMOS/BIOS set-up. In some instances, you are asked in the BIOS what video will be used such as onboard, AGP or PCI or a selection of something like that. Also you can try and not allocating any memory to the onboard video. Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck.
