I have the same problem some website recommended to hold the menu button but don't explain if we do it during the screen's startup or while the screen is already on ..... but my problem is quite different i see the OSD volume control locked to maximum, if i hold the menu button during more than 5 sec the OSD control disappear but i cannot acces to the "Menu OSD/Settings OSD"... and i try a different way, when i power it on i press n hold "menu" (i saw that on the web) and then press "volume + " and 1 time for 50 i seem to work the OSD is displayed but i can't move the selector and when i press "volume -" it launch the "screen autoconf".... so i'm depressed.....
If i had some news form my side i'll tell ya
First of all, try holding down the MENU button for about 15 seconds.
Just in case you don't have it already, here is the link to the ONLINE USER"S MANUAL for that model:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1700FP/En/index.htm
To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.
Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the link, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.
If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.
Thank you very much and good luck.
Joe.
