How do I Unlock Ipod screen if I forgot the 4 digit password?

Hi I recently received an Ipod Nano from a friend and I set it up and everything worked great. I just locked the screen and I can't unlock it. I called my friend and he said that he forgot the 4 digit combination. Does anyone have a quick fix for this? hi while i was just browsing through my i pod nano 3rd generation i went to the screen lock i thought i knew the combination but i did not what do i do without breaking the bank !!!!!!!!

my friend locked my ipod as joke and said the code was 1122 and was 100% sure about it. she let me suffer, trying to get me to find the code. i tried all these different things but it kept on blinking red. finnaly she told me wat it was but we tried it and it doesnt work. plz help|!

plug it into itunes and select the ipod on the left side, then click restore or reset. the music and pics and movies and stuff'll be wiped off, though.

I had a simalar problem ... plug it into the computer and hold down the off/on button and the home key for about 10 seconds and then leave go of the off/on button and continue to hold the home key until it says recovery mode on your computer.... it will delete everything off it but its the only way!!!

See these instructions for unlocking the iPod Screen Lock if you don't know the combination.

You can connect it to the first computer it was every synced with (this should be your friend's computer?) Open iTunes, then disconnect the iPod. It should now be unlocked.
If you can't do that, then you can restore the iPod to factory default settings. Note that this will erase all music and data from the iPod, along with the Screen Lock password.

Well, to make a long story short, I finally unlocked my ipod after perilous hours of invalid guesses. What did I do? I have a habit of making obvious passwords-I simply goofed this time. I used the last four digits of my mother's cellphone number! Yes, yes, silly me silly me. However, I was quite relieved when I finally unlocked it. Thanks! =)
