Hi paul_cole695.
I think undoubtedly, the bad seqcuence motor.
Also the keys printed with poor contact or loose brush
Both or one of each.

OK, first off charge your battery and try again. Probably won't do anything but low power does cause problems. Second, check to make sure the mirror isn't stuck on its stop. If it doesn't move up and down freely, there may be a problem with the mirror. Finally, usual cause is motor failure in the aperture unit or shutter failure. If you can lift the mirror, lift it gently and make sure the shutter blades are laying flat. Unfortunately Nikon stopped selling parts over a year ago so you would have to send it to Nikon.

Nikon F100 does not advance film to start of roll,

Jim, it really sounds like one of threethings. Either will require a repair shop.
1. the film sensor is not recognizing film in the film chamber, or film across the back, therefore not telling the advance motor to advance film...
2. The film advance motor itself needs replaced.
3. The rear door latch switch needs replaced.
Since everything else seems to do OK, I doubt the main computer board is bad.

Error Message

Try to take off the battery and reset the camera. You can also try to remove the lens and check the mirror opening..see if there is some thing stuck there. You can try to click the shutter while the lens is removed. If this procedure didn't work I suggest calling Nikon for further repairs.

The shutter on my canon a-1 seems to be stuck. After I wind up the film, nothing happens after I press the shutter button. I opened the bottom of the camera up and pressed the L-shaped lever and magnet to...

If you opened the bottom you saw the magnet that holds the shutter /mirror mechanism closed- sometimes it and the lever it holds get dirt or corrosion on them and won't hold the lever when you **** the shutter? it can also be the battery is not dead, but not enough voltage to supply enough power to hold lever.

No picture taken when shutter release is pressed

if you see no reation of the pressing of the button i.e. no focusing, no error message nothing , then most probably a simplest problem , the shutter release button may not be working for few reasons : 1) defective switch. 2) defective flex cable. 3) camera exposed to some physical jerk or dropping resulting into disalingment between inner switch and the shutter release button.
