Hi,
Re-solder convergence output ICs pins and nearby big resistors that might solve your tv picture problem and if that does not help then replace both convergence output ICs to fix the problem.
Convergence output ICs would be available in local repair parts shop or google it.
Thanks.

Mitsubishi convergence IC replacement: this applies to sets that use (2) STK-392-570

The Idea here is to get the Middle Circuit board out so you can replace the Convergence Ic’s.

HERE is what you will need: (most of this you can buy on the internet or at local electronics stores)

Two new: STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE IC’S
One good soldering iron
Solder
De soldering braid or wick
Liquid flux
Heat sink compound (grease)
Denatured alcohol
One short Philips screwdriver
One small clean toothbrush
One electric screw gun to REMOVE screws

Turn the set on and examine the picture for how the Convergence looks bad---when you are done examine it again---once in a great while you will get and install a new IC that is bad. Remember this when you have finished—if the convergence is still bad but different from what you started with you may have installed a new I.C. that was bad. Turn the Set off.

  1. Unplug set.
  2. Remove back cover.
  3. Remove front speaker grill and inspection plate behind it.
  4. Remove the 2 or 3 black screws that go thru the back edge of the plastic frame that hold the chassis down.
  5. Where all the video and audio jacks are on the right edge of them you will see a diagonal plastic (Black) remove the two brass screws from the outside edge, remove another to the right bottom and a third smaller screw forward and to the left; remove plastic piece and all four screws and set them aside.
  6. Look carefully at main board in center of the set.
  7. You will find a number of screws hold it into the plastic frame.
  8. Towards the left back edge of this (to the right of the plastic you removed) you will find a metal cover with a small screw on either end. It has a lot of round holes punched in it.
  9. Remove both screws and pull the shield up and off---remove the board beneath it by releasing the two tabs on the bottom right side and pulling the board out—handle it with care as it is the digital convergence board that stores the set’s memory of adjustments. Set it aside
  10. At this point you need to pull the entire Chassis back at least a few inches---If it does not slide back look for a plastic latch on either side near the front of it. Some sets have the latches on the left or right side—black plastic tabs that lift up.

Cant get the Multipoint red/blue set right

Most likely your convergence circuit needs repair, there are 2 large IC chips with heat sinks (labeled STKxxx -XXX) and possibly depending on model a resistor or fuse may have went with it. 95% of the time this is all it is. It could cost $300-400 to have someone repair it.

Sony KP-53XBR45 convergence

Hey, found the problem. Your Convergence IC chip went bad. Buy one at Bluestar International Components (bluestar-online.com) - order part number STK392-010 for 6.99. I've read that there are two in the system and replacing them both at same time is a good idea...so, order 2. Now, if you are handy, it will require you to open the back of the TV and solder out the old chip and replace with new. If not, then you might as well call a TV repair person and have them fix. However, every place I've called works on a minimum fee for "large screen TVs" - the cheapest I could find in Atlanta was $399 minimum service fee. So, I'm going to risk the home sodering job .... it's a 10 year old TV and as good as it's been to me, if I screw it up, I feel I've gotten my money out of it. Good luck with your repair. My parts are on order.

Convergence problem- right side red out?

As long a the picture is not bowed you may have a convergence module bad or have to enter convergence service menu to adjust If bowed at all the convergence ic's are bad or just a resistor in the convergence circuit is out of its value. These are possibilities but it still could be the ic's

Reverse fisheye!!

you are going to need to replace the convergence board assembly. It is available at http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.asp?catalog%5Fname=Parts+and+Accessories&product%5Fid=BP95%2D00142P&search%5Fmodel=HCN653W. Also get the service manual, as you will need to do some touchup convergence and reset the perfect focus setup again If you have the technical ability. If you do, great! If you do not, these service menu alighnments can mess up your set, so take no shortcuts. Good Luck
