Hey thomas952,

While they may not be region-coded, PS3 consoles and games sold within the United States are going to be NSTC compliant, instead of the PAL format used in the United Kingdom and South Africa. What this means is that in order for any game to display properly (or even operate) it must be purchased from the same region of the world as the console itself - NTSC games can only be played on NTSC consoles.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

US Nintendo DS-Lite with converter problems in South Africa

Hi,

It should work straight out with a step down transformer. That is of course if the mains supply in South Africa is 240 240 and the unit being American is 110.

This is of course not unless it was initially tried without a transformer or stepdown converter which would mean that the charger/adapter has been fried and therefore damaged.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Www.what is the "politically correct" name to call people of color?

I would like to start by saying this.

Nelson Mandela, a South African political activist, co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, the first President of South Africa to be elected in fully-representative democratic elections, an advocate for a variety of social and human rights organizations and greater international cooperation, one of the world's most visible figures regarding race relations and a symbol to many people of the struggle for racial equality said this in his Inaugural speech on May 9, 1994;
"Ours has been a quest for a constitution freely adopted by the people of South Africa, reflecting their wishes and their aspirations. The struggle for democracy has never been a matter pursued by one race, class, religious community or gender among South Africans. In honoring those who fought to see this day arrive, we honor the best sons and daughters of all our people. We can count amongst them Africans, Coloreds, Whites, Indians, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jews - all of them united by a common vision of a better life for the people of this country." I think today that it would determine first off which country you are residing in when speaking of people of color. In the United States I believe it is generally accepted that "African American" is the term for some people of color where as "Native American", "Hispanic", "Asian American" or other terms along that same line are most acceptable.

I would like to add that Martin Luther King, Jr., an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement, best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs, said most famously in his speech given from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.on August 28, 1963;
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." The fact that to this very day we still have to be concerned with what the "Politically correct" name to call people of color shows that we have not yet reached that point in our advancement of equality.

Is the South African ps3 compatible with USA bluray movies (including 3d) for viewing in South Africa

Hi, jfk1848!
Blu-ray games and blu-ray movies are mostly Region Free so you shouldn't have any problems. This may not apply to all products but generally you shouldn't have any issues.

Hope this helped you!

I bought a playstation 3 in South Africa and have moved to Australia and I can get any game or DVD to play on it that I have bought in Australia why?

I think you wanted to write that you CAN'T watch DVDs or play games bought in Australia on your PS3.
The reason is the region code of your playstation. It only can play Region Code 2 DVDs and games. In Australia you only can buy Region Code 4 media.
You need to buy your media from south africa or Europe. Some blueray-discs are region code free. You can check this on: http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/
As far as I know it's not possible at the moment to change the region code of the play station.
