You can probably skip cleaning the glass because you're not seeing the problem when you're scanning from the glass. Try the other solutions though.

does the feeder try to fed the paper? if you hear not working and not fed the paper then clean with alcohol with hard paper the roller .
if not fix did you hear noises? maybe the gears.

Printer gives repeated "clear paper jam" messages and even though there is no paper anywhere in the paper path it will not clear.

I cleaned the feed rollers on my document feeder with alcohol and cotton swabs and its been working great ever since, Try that first if you can get to the rollers. I would not try it with the power on though unless tou are very careful
