I have a harman kardon AVR-130 connected via audio optical to my Samsung LCD tv. My Samsung DVD player is connected via HDMI cable to my tv as well. When attempting to play a DVD using DTS, I get a message that "HDMI Audio Not Compatible"...can you possibly help?

if you are talking about the hdmi ports, 3 are ins and one is out, but I use the hdmi from player direct to tv, and use coax or optical connection to my receiver for the audio
Hi, You might want to run your ps3's hdmi into your hk, as I'm sure it has hdmi inputs. Using your hk as the audio /visual switcher may resolve this issue-and by the way the hdmi cable has audio built in. I hope this was of some help and thanks for choosing FixYa, good luck Prodzilla.
Check that the player's Dolby / DTS is enabled. Sometimes it is defaulted in the player to 2.0 / Stereo PCM. What model Samsung? Those Harman receivers are old favorites of mine...
connect tv video in to kardon video out (tv audio in to kardon audio out) dvd audio and video out to kardio audio video in. and if you what to record also signal from tv. make a cable from tv audio / video out to kardon audio / video in.
It will only display via component. Your HDMI firmware is either 1.1 or 1.2 and has HDCP issues (High Definition Copyright Protection) it's a firmware problem that has been fixed on all new receivers, not just a HK issue, all receivers! the new version 1.3a and 1.3b have fixed the issue. Unfortunately you cannot update the firmware on the receiver. Hope this explains it for you, sorry! Lot's of angry people out there!!! myself included.
I also had this UNLOCK message on my Harman Cardon AVR 130.
The reason for this error was - in a hurry I've plugged the optical input into optical OUT! Double check that your connections in the back are correct and hopefully it fixes your problem.
Connect the optical audio OUT on the TV to the optical audio IN on the receiver. Turn the receiver on and set it to input as it was labeled on the connection ("video" or "auxillary" or such). Turn the TV on and set it to an active TV channel (with video and presumably audio info), not to VIDEO 1. If you continue to have a problem, please provide an update.
I'm not sure if this solution is still necessary however:
I own a H/K AVR300 and have a PS3 hooked up via HDMI to the TV and Optical TOSLink to the receiver. I have no troubles selecting between DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1. I can even select trueHD whatever format but I can't detect an audible difference, I think that mode might be downgraded back to regular DD5.1...
