If you are having trouble removing the set screw make sure you are using the correct size allen wrench and confirm that it is a allen screw and not a trox screw. After doing this try tighten the screw slightly before loosening it. This should break it loose.

My Am Stan series 4453 faucet has always been hard to turn left and right. The handle works fine, just the entire spout is hard to turn. What can I do to relax the tightness?

Look on the underside of the sink (in the cabinet) and find the nut that holds the faucet in place. Loosen it a quarter-turn at a time until it's where you want it. If it starts to leak, remove the nut completely, wrap the male connector with teflon tape, and replace the nut. Tighten it a little at a time until it's where you would like it. Good luck.

How to replace sprout seal kit?

After you remove the handle, the chrome cap should either snap or spin off.It also may come out with the cartridge... There are 3 screws that hold the cartidge in the faucet...take them out and you should be able carefully work the faucet are off of the core of the faucet. Put a little cooking oil on the o-rings after you install the new ones... just to allow the faucet arm to slide on without damage... Hope this gets you dripless!! Let me know if you have a question. Kitchen spout leaks

Hi buffy9,

I'm Harvet the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have an American Standard two faucet in my kitchen and the base of the spout leaks at the base. How do you remove it and replace the washers?

Are we talking about an American Standard two HANDLE faucet or one of the single handle models?

Thank you,
Harvey your Master Plumber
