Sometimes when a battery is too low it takes a while for it to initialize in a charger and begin to charge. Clean the battery contacts with a pencil eraser and put it back on the charger. Leave it on the charger despite the blinking light. Leave it on the charger for several hours and see if the flash stops and it becomes a constant light indicating normal charging. If this does not work, you may have a short in the battery or in the charger itself. Try another known good battery in the charger and see if you have the same problem. If so the charger has an issue. Best regards.
Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? Ifnot then -
The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty.
Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED lightstays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder jointwhere it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.
The battery is too low and the power supply can't charge the battery and also power the laptop at the same time.
Try this:
1. Remove the battery from the laptop
2. Plug in the power cord and turn ON the laptop.
3. It should work ok.
4. After the laptop is "stable" (what 5 minutes?), you can put the battery back into the laptop while it is ON.
5. Leave the laptop ON so the battery can get charged.
6. Lower / close the lid so that the screen will turn OFFand not take up power from recharging the battery.
If this doesn't work for you, try these steps again, maybe wait a few minutes between steps.
I have the same problem. What I did several time is to actually shut down the phone, remove the battery and leave it like that for several hours (3 to 4 hours). Then, I put the battery back in the phone, and it would charge again. However, due to the long time with no battery, the phone's clock would be reset to January 2007.
I found no other work around right now. However, I have to do this more and more often, almost once a week ...
Usually this problem is due to the firmware. When the firmware is updated to version 1.62.02, this problem usually will be corrected. The older firmwares have problems in recognizing the battery and allowing the battery to power the unit.
You will need a wall/AC charger for the operation. Plug in the wall charger and USB cable at the same time. Your Zen should power on when connected to direct AC power via the wall charger. Once it is powered on, connect the USB cable to your computer. Then begin the firmware download.
If your Zen does not power on when connected to the wall charger, your unit is dead and its time to replace it or get the motherboard replaced via one of the Repair services offered on this website.
If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.
