When I push the power button the screen comes on and display a image for about a second. Then the image goes to black and the power light stays green. Does anyone know what is causing this?

We have two VA702b (manufactured date MAR 2006) with the same symptom: image for a split second, then blank screen when powered on. Luckily for us, both monitors are still within the three year warranty.

I have the same issue with my veiw sonic monitor. It goes blank after one second of being on. I have found that if you push the power button on and off several times sometimes you monitor will work. My guess is that it is a short near the power button. BTW it isn't a lose power or data supply.

Mine does the same thing however, the light starts flashing.

When I turn on my monitor, the screen flickers and then goes blank. The green light stays on . Somitimes the screen doesn't even show the desktop picture-it just stays blank.

Monitor going black after a few seconds can be caused by a faulty power supply or inverter. Some monitors have both as one unit.
Sometimes it is basic failed capacitors, After that then I would look at transistors.
The average monitor from 17 to 20 and sometimes the 22s have usually 4 bulbs in them. One bad bulb will also cause the inverter to not fire up.
Bad bulbs usually show pinkish tint, or flickering or are dark at center top or bottom of the display.
