I have 2 of these humidifiers and neither seems to be dispensing moisture into the air. The fans work fine and the filters are new. I am using regular tap water and have placed them in a room and ran them for several hours without seeing any change in water level or moisture content in the air.......any suggestions.

If your "tap water" is from a well, the humidifier may be clogged with mineral scale. Even if it is not well water, your municipal source may have a high mineral content.

Using a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and water run through the system will usually clean the mineral scale out. In the future, I would recommend that you use Bottled Distilled Water. You can buy it by the gallon, inexpensively at grocery stores or pharmacies.

Hello...i have a sunbeam filter free warm mist humidifier, and i put the water in and turn it on but it doesn't seem to be working. All the lites are on but nothing and it's brand new too never been used.

Hi, have you given it a while? That humidifier usually takes about 10 minutes to get going. After 10 minutes or so you should be able to feel the warm mist coming out, and soon after you should feel a difference in the moisture in the air.

HE220A1019 Whole House Humidifier

The humidifier is designed to "pull" the air through the water panel. After it does the humidified air will re-enter the plenum on the side of the opening that it is pulling in from. Just keep the water panel replaced every year and you will be fine.

Aprilaire 600 Humidifier

J-

I had this problem several years ago. In order for the water to flow, the outside temperature sending unit must indicate to the controller that it is less than 60F. If not, the unit will not operate outside of test mode. Check the temp outside where your sending unit is (could the sun be heating that side of the house?) and ensure that the circuit to the sending unit is working. I had a bad wire splice inside a wire nut stopping the circuit. Took me a long while to figure it out.

If the outside temp and your sending unit circuit is ok, I wish you luck on your troubleshooting.

Only light moisture even at high setting

Filters can get dirty pretty quick with the use of tap water. I attached the manual for you so that you can clean it.
Personally, i replace my humidifier filter at least once every 2 months.

Good Luck.

No moisture

Is the level of water dropping? If so, the humidifier is working. If you have a cool air humidifier you won't see any steam or anything at all. You will just feel cool air. Watch the water level and see what happens.

Good Luck.

Fan is running but humidity is not changing

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
A:
First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.

UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

OK?
Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
A:
Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.
