I still can't get my Kindle to turn on even after holding the slide switch on for 7seconds. The green light flashed x 3 and went off but my screen didn't go blank. I've held the slide switch on for 15 seconds, then longer then 30seconds. Nothing is happening. Can anyone suggest any other solutions?

First call amazon customer support! They are really good at helping you get your kindle back up and running.
A couple questions to ask yourself Is the kindle fully charged? There might only be enough power for the green LED and not the actual kindle!
If this is your last resort:
I have never done this, and it would certainly void your warrant but I am told that there is a reset button underneath the cover of the kindle...

My Kindle 3G seems to have frozen.

Hello,
Amazon recommends the following steps. As I'm sure you have already tried the power switch, try starting from Step #5 to do a hard reset on your Kindle.

Source: Amazon.com

  1. Unplug Kindle from power adapter or computer.
  2. Slide and release the power button. The LED light that surrounds the power button will display green for two seconds.
  3. Shut down Kindle by sliding and holding the power button for five seconds. The LED light will blink three times. Wait for the screen to go blank, then release the power button.
  4. Turn on the Kindle by sliding and releasing the power button.
  5. If Kindle is still not working, you can perform a hard reset by sliding and holding the power button for 15 seconds.
  6. If Kindle is still unresponsive, try charging Kindle before trying to restart the device once again.
  7. Make sure you have the latest software version available installed on your Kindle. The latest version is available here: www.amazon.com/kindlesoftwareupdates
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

My kindle will not start up even though it has battery charge. Is there a soft reboot?

Yes:
  1. Get a watch with a hand for the seconds.
  2. Slide and hold the power switch for 7 seconds. After about 5 seconds the power light flashes three times. After 7 seconds, the screen will go blank and the device is switched off now. Release the switch.
  3. Slide and hold the power switch for 15 seconds (no more, no less). Do not hold the switch too long, the time window for the reset is not very big.
  4. After releasing the switch just wait. The Kindle will reboot after a few seconds.

My kindle went to sleep and now won't turn on.

Some older Kindle covers (original Amazon leather covers, non-lighted versions only) interfere with electrical contacts inside the Kindle via the hinge clamps that connect the cover to the Kindle. If you have such a cover, remove it first. If not, just continue with the next steps.

Make sure your Kindle is fully charged before you continue.
  • Note, the Kindle merely goes to a suspend mode if you give the on/off switch a short nudge only, it does not really switch off.
  • Slide and hold the on / off switch until after the power light flashes three times. This takes about five seconds.
  • If the device boots now, wait until its finished and you can use it again.
  • If the screen just goes blank, do the slide-and-hold again.
  • If the Kindle still does not boot, there is a defect that cannot be cured by a simple reset. You will need to contact Kindle support for warranty repair.
Check if your Kindle works normally again. If you removed a cover before, re-attach the cover now. Observe the Kindle's behavior, if the same thing happens again with cover attached, contact Kindle support. The reported Amazon policy in such cases is to refund your cover and add a voucher for the price difference to the lighted version, so essentially your non-lighted cover gets exchanged for a lighted one. Not a bad deal.

When I picked up my Kindle to read it today, the screen was on and frozen. I tried to turn the page and nothing happened. I tried turning it on and off and nothing happened. My husband held the power...

Your husband switched the device off. If you give the power switch a short nudge only, it goes in and out of "stand-by" mode, it is not really switched off.

Try to slide and hold the power switch again, until after the power light blinks three times. Should happe after ~5 seconds of holding. The Kindle should restart now --- takes about a minute, but you will see a progress bar to keep you happy during the delay.

My Kindle will not TURN ON!!!!! THE INDICATOR LIGHT WONT EVEN COME ON!!! WHAT DO I DO???

  1. Connect the device to the charger (if you got one, in some countries Amazon does not include a separate charger). Otherwise use the provided USB cable and connect it to a PC.
  2. Does the light come up now? While charging, there should be a constant amber light that turns into green when the device is fully charged.
  3. If there is no light, your Kindle, cable or charger is broken and you should contact Amazon Kindle support for a replacement / repair.
  4. If the light went on, wait until it turns green.
  5. Slide and hold the on switch until after the power light blinks three times. This should happen after about 5 seconds of holding.
  6. Release the switch and wait for the device to boot up.
  7. If there is still no reaction, contact Amazon Kindle support for repair or replacement options.

My kindle wi-fi is not working. I went to turn it on and the light came on but stayed at the screen saver screen.

Make sure that the kindle is fully charged. Plug your kindle into the wall charger, a yellow light will light up. When the yellow light turns green, your kindle is fully charged. Then try turning on your device. If the device still does not turn on, hold the power switch for 15 seconds, this will reboot the device.
