Both front and rear heaters run off different fuses so check the owner's manual for the location of the fuse and replace it. If you don't have the owner's manual a Haynes or Chilton's manual will also have the fuse box diagram and are very useful to own.

ive changed the fuses an still nothing i figure it cant be motor or resister cause back wouldnt work an the front work on high right? could it be relay? or can it be a blend door problem ?

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2011

It could be a blend door problem or a relay. Check the coolant level and top it off if neede and it may be a good idea to flush the heater core and/or cooling system. Also often times there is a seperate fuse for the high heater fan than the other fan speeds.

whats weird is it was coming on randomly lastnight after the truck was running for about 30mins the i shut the truck down an it wouldnt work the same thing again 30 mins it would work an then park the truck an next time it wouldnt work its just weird lol

That is strange, there could be a short in the wiring to the blower motor or the motor could be going bad. If the temperature gage is acting sporadicly it could also be a sticking thermostat.

Can i change a ford explorer cloth interior and trim for leather interior and trim. And if i can will the heated seats and memory settings on the front seats still work? Many thanks to anyone who can help...

Yes you could do all that, but it would be cheaper just to buy a explorer that has leather, that car isnt worth $1500 and leather seats will be $500 each, unless you find one in a salvage yard that you can get parts out of?

FRONT HEATED SEATS

you need to check the resistance in each of the heated seat elements in the seat. There's a two wire connector under the back of each front seat. The connector should be green. disconnect it and measure the resistance along the circuit going into the seat. if it isnt .1 - .3 ohms, replace the appropriate heated seat element

98 Aurora's heated seat not working

Check your fuses first. Then check to see if you have power to the box under seat. It should be about 3x3 and black I think. If you have power to the box change the box. To check use a test light. make sure the key is on and the button is pushed then probe the wires going to the box. Hope this helps you.

1998 Ford Explorer XLT Front drivers side power seat will go forward, up and down but not back! Is there an override?

See if the slide rail is bent. We just picked one up in a wrecking yard, leather seat perfect condition from a '98 Explorer, it has the same problem. If you put it back too far, it gets stuck and won't go forward. Check it for a bend or a burr in the metal which can be filed. Otherwise, ??

Where can i purchase front leather seats to replace old ones for 1998 ford explorer

Try a wrecking yard. We just got a rear leather split bench seat from a '98 Explorer for $75 (no rips) and two front buckets for $150. They are in very good condition. They'll be much higher anywhere else. They have the same bolt pattern as a 1993, as that's what we're putting them in.

The headlamp switch will cause the lamps to turn off. The switch heats up and turns the headlamps off. It will cool down and work for about 10 minutes and cut out,

Seat swap......installing '98 front seats in a '93 explorer

a ford agency has, in the parts dept., the wiring diagrams of cars of previous vintages. in one such book, i discovered that the black-with-white-trim wire beneath the front seats of the '98 is the +12v wire, labelled b/w on the diagram. on the '93 it is the blue wire, with a different plug configuration. got both plugs from wrecked cars, wired up a spliced transition harness so that one would adapt to the other, and it all worked fine. hope this info will save some other wrecking yard artist from having to do the same task. ggp
