Well, this seems to be an issue specific to the desktop computer. Please disable the firewall on the concerned computer and then check if that resolves the issue.
option 1. check your firewall setting maybe it prohibits skype from accessing the internet. check if you have other firewall programs then check the settings. if it is ok try to disable your firewall. option 2.try if you can use your internet connection without using the router then try using skype. if it works there is problem with the router settings. if not your problem with the skype try to reinstall it.
you might try moving your computer closer to your router make sure your routers and your dell 1450 settings are correct ie:password user name, firewall settings to allow your internet to connect also test the lead/s whether usb or ethernet if applicable
Hi, i have the same issue and it isnt the firewall. But here is how to disable it if it is. Go to the router websight at 192.168.0.1 (type this directly into the browser bar at the top of your page. The password is usually password in lowercase. The username is admin. This will get you into the management screen for the router config. Look on the Left and you will see firewall. Click on this then ensure that there are no restrictions for HP.
I still have the issue with the printer so good luck.......scotty
