The electronic clock/timer must work correctly and be in manual mode for the oven to work. It sounds as if you need to replace the electronic clock. If you do not need the clock function it is fairly easy to bypass the clock altogether and the oven will work no problem.
Thanks very much for this feedback - do you have any knowedge on how to replace the eletronic clock - is it pretty straightforward - if so, how do I do this. If not, who is the best person to get in to ask?
Thanks again
Replacement of the clock is not too difficult. Order the correct part. I am assuming it is an upright range. Remove the top panel at the rear of the range to gain access to the clock. There are normally 3 to 4 wires connected to the clock. Remove the faulty clock, taking note where the wires go and fit the new one. Remember to turn the power off at the switchboard first. If you're not sure you can always just get the part and call a repairperson.
