Here are instructions for replacing the spring. You can call any local garage door company and they will sell you the springs. I absolutely don't recommend this job for a DIY'er. It is dangerous.

Liftmaster GDO goes up 1/2 way and stops, springs are fine.

The Liftmaster openers have 4 movement switches, a )opening and b) closing limit and c) opening and d) closing force. First check the door for smooth operation by opening the door by hand (disconnect from the opener with the release cord). Any binding should be felt this way. It is possible for a binding hinge, roller or torsion springs to add too much drag and cause the force switch to shut off the motor. Hinges, roller shafts and torsion springs should be lubricated at least annually with a non oily spray (silicone or teflon spray). Not WD-40 or 3-in-1! A light band of lube should be applied to the torsion spring coils. If the door can be operated smoothly by hand, then adjust the closing force switch 1/4 turn at a time. This is a safety device do not use it to overcome another problem!

Fuse blew as garage door was closing.Door slammed shut ,now only goes up 2inches then closes when switch touched !!!

Sounds like it may be a broken spring. Look above the door at the coils on the steel rod and see if there is a separation of the torsion springs. Or if extension spring it will be hanging down on one side above the tracks. If it is a broken torsion spring I would advise calling someone with experience. If not what is the make and year of opener?

I have a 2265R 1/2 hp garage door opener, and I'm wanting to install a wireless keypad. Which keypad is compatible with my particular garage door?

You need to give the proper model number. It is on the end of the motor unit closest to the door. Also the manufacturer.

Hello we have a Chamberlin 2265R 1/2 HP gargare door opener. There are two issues. 1) recently when we press the remote to open the garage door the door will travel a short distance then stop press it...

I have recently had the same problem. I found one of the brackets on the garage door was broken. The broken piece which was hanging may have been interfeering with the traveling of the door. It was a diamond shapped bracket labeled N1. the door opens and closes, plus putting stress on the dootr. works fine now, i am in the process as we speak to find a replacement bracket. It was driving me crazy. The door would open fine, but when closing it would stop then go back up, the light would flash. Check all yhe brackets on the garage door itself.

My garage door opener only opens the door 2 feet high and stops, what could be the problem?

You could have a broken door spring or the drive gear is going bad. You need to remove the cover to check the gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. You can also increase the 'up force' which is a control on the rear of the motor unit.
